Thanks for more advice. I have seen the Horis at LX avionics, and have the info. It is bright enough, but it might still be too small for our old eyes. I have written to GRT. Many thanks for your replies. Very interesting. I almost went for the Avmap, but it does seem a little dated now. Even the chips in today's drones are several generations on. I was very interested in the GRT Mini, but it is not readily available in Europe. I think that LAS can get one through Aircra...

Replacing Vacuum Instruments
Looking to remove the vacuum Horizon Gyro and Directional Indicator from a small VFR panel. It will save 3Kg or so. Thanks for that. As the only sensor is the pitot, that should be OK.
The bit about reliability is not so certain.
I cannot find any info on serviceability in the manual.
Garmin will just say "buy a tso version" !

Anyone considering the G5 as a complete replacement for the 6 pack on a Microlight.
If so, is the non tso version adequate, and are there any hoops to go through with the LAA?
