Re: Excellent service for permit renewal

Same here. 3 days from popping it in the post box to getting the renewal back this morning.

Well done engineering :)

Re: IMC in a Rotax 912 engined aircraft

In the latest mag (Feb) engineering are quoted as having set a minimum wing loading of 60kg/sqmtr for IFR (page 29). This will I fear exclude a large number of Rotax powered aircraft.

My limited experience of GA TCAS is a G1000 in a 182. That certainly does not have any problem in the circuit. All transponding traffic is displayed but TCAS only alerts on traffic that may conflict. So it's quite useful even in the circuit and not at all distracting unless you might die. Re ADS-B T...

No problem: A Competely Useless List of Regulations ============================ 1) Do as the board tell you 2) Your a strut, not the board, see 1. 3) Don't fly without asking as it's dangerous and the board might get sued. 4) Don't do nuffink' else unless you ask the board first 5) The board is ver...

Apparently we are paying two CEOs at the moment. You might wish to delegate the task to the spare one ;)

Land on the airfield directly underneath him perhaps? ;)

Tom, Some of the immediately obvious candidates for relaxation of VFR only rules would be the orphans that until they recently came on permit could fly IFR on their CofA. Some if not the majority of those will be Jodels. Please stop implying this is some elitist thing. IFR is simply another way of f...

I hope you feel better getting that off your chest Chris. Please accept that LAA is a broad church and there are some of us that would like to fly IFR in our aircraft. When your glue has set and you are flying your creation, you too may one day wish to pop up though an overcast to fly on top in smoo...

I help do a 182T and that is the basic oil, filter, lubricate, check but he got a print out from his Part M maintainer that we work to. Your best bet is to ask your own to print one off for you then there can be no 'misunderstandings'. I guess you knew that already though.

As a Strut coordinator the excuse I get most often trotted out by people not to join the LAA or look at a permit syndicate is "I have/may wish to get an IMC/IR and fly IFR" so LAA is no good for me. One just has to look at other forums. Getting rid of the "VFR only" label the GA world has put on us ...

OK Brian if you want this discussion in the open for all to see this is what I wrote on the NC forum: As far a Bristol wing is concerned the 50% LAA members rule (target?) would not affect us. I think we have about 75% LAA membership though we only have about 55 members. I am very concerned however ...
