It could be worth trying some clip on ferite rings (obtainable from Maplin) on the light/strobe feed. It should take out some of the RF pickup

What sort of molex plug are you hoping to make up? In the past I have made up some of the large pinned sort using a normal crimping tool and then assembling the plug subsequently.

How about going and talking to a small prototyping electronics firm local to you, its the sort of thing they might have.
