Re: Electric flying

Rob I tend to agree on your comments. Range is limited for sure and to increase it larger Battery fitment is needed and you lose carrying capacity. Noise is subjective. I'm not sure how much quieter is but for sure you will hear the propellor. It's only mitigation is that its a different noise. Inst...

Re: Battery article Jun 21 LA Magazine

I have used LifePO4 batteries for 10 years without problems. The first two instances have been on an old non-Electrical Aircraft with old Continentals so the Batteries just supplied ancillary power but held charge well and were recharged occasionally. Lightweight too. I now have an SSDR with chargin...

Re: nppl info needed unbelivable demands by caa

A Simple exploration on the internet could show the CAA apt ways to quickly check your validity. Some Banks and certainly the Crypto World use online scanning of Licences which are then matched to real time photos you take yourself from Computer or Phone. Utility Bills are scanned. It takes a short ...

Re: Lonely aircraft

Good news on getting an Aircraft you want. First time flight in single seat is thought provoking. Just make sure you have made a mental rehearsal, got a mind on speeds and then commit. It is very exciting!! Might be worth looking at this YouTube Page and seeing if there is any flying action filmed f...

Re: Lonely aircraft

I wrote a letter as per Sean's approach and received a telephone call telling me affirmative on they were thinking of selling. Agreed price and collected.
For another Aircraft I made telephone contact and yet again it worked.
An old fashioned letter has been around a lot longer than email!

Re: Europa tri-gear tyre pressures etc.

Post Script.
I think we may have tried a sort of anti-shimmy grease from a specialist Supplier to use on Nose Wheel castoring mechanism. The grease came from some Industrial application or another. Search for information but no luck.

Re: Europa tri-gear tyre pressures etc.

Hope this helps. Manual says: To set the shimmy damper stiffness a spring balance, or other suitable device, which is capable of registering loads of up to 10 Kg, is required. With the nose wheel clear of the ground a load of between 8 and 9 Kg (18 - 20 lb) should be required, as measured at the bac...

Re: Big pilots

Derek Not the best option but maybe your profile published would get responses yes and no to various aircraft being flown in LAA Land. I've just sold an older single seat and ensured that the advert conveyed that anyone over 6 foot wouldn't have a chance of fitting. 5' 9" and maximum of 200 pounds w...

Re: Big pilots

Derek Hi. Finding an aircraft to fit is quite the hardest part of selection along with another.....access IN and OUT. Old aircraft were often designed when the population was generally 25% or more smaller than it is today. Cabin width is always a good measure of suitability. Anything 25" or below is...
