Hello fellow LAAers.
I am rebuilding a 1942 Taylorcraft L2 and have got to the covering stage for the wings.
The last time I covered some wings was in the 1990's when I did a Luscombe pair. I covered those with medium weight Ceconite. I did not particularly like working with the seam sealer glue and ...

C of A aircraft
Can anybody help with advice.
I am considering moving from flying an Aeronca Champ which is a permit aircraft to something a bit faster (100mph at least). Dont get me wrong I love the Champ which is ideal for my 450 metre strip on a hill in Northumberland and I can maintain it myself but she who ...

Onrisk have decided they dont want to trade anymore. So as seems to happen every year I am hunting for insurance. At present I have a quote from Joint Aviation Services which is satisfactory but they seem unsure as to the minimum insurance requirements for my Champ (554kg mtow ...

Engine silk
Has anybody got any silk thread for Continental crankcase joining?
I can buy 260 yds but this seems a bit excessive.
I only need a few yards. Four would be nice.
Cheers

Does anybody have a Continental O200 manual that I could borrow for a short while. I am sorting the motor on a Taylorcraft L2. Only 2 in the country.

Water divining does work. I have used L shaped bent pieces of coat hanger pivoting in biros with the middle removed. hold the biros in front of you at waist height so that the longer piece of wire is facing forward and stable. Your elbows must be slightly away from your body as the movement of the ...

Hi G Dawes. I fly on an NPPL medical because I try and keep my costs as low as possible and at present dont anticipate flying abroad. My first medical (after CAA class one) was simply signed by my doctor after a brief explanation from me. He didnt even charge me. He signed the next one but I had to ...

Carriage cost of propeller
Having need to send a prop to Mr Lodge for overhaul I trotted off to my local postie with it nicely boxed and presented it for carriage by parcel farce which had taken many a parcel for me in the past. Oh no young sir we cannot take your parcel due to its length (over 500mm) so you will have to go ...

photo archive
Hi Stuart.
I tried to add a picture to the archive but it would not recognise my user name so I could not proceed.
Others may be having the same problem or more likely just me!

Hi Paul.
You dont need any documentation to use a field to fly an aircraft from.
You do need the permission of the landowner. You need a strip of land long enough and without obstructions for you to be comfortable landing and taking off from. I reccomend that there are no roads nearby, no footpaths ...

Anybody landed on Jura?
Has anybody flown to Jura recently?
I am considering a trip from Hexham in my Champ.
Apparently there are some good gardens on the Island that "she" wants to visit.
I have pictures of the strip but no details of length and surface condition.
Let me know if you have any information please.
