Sorry to go a bit off topic, but why develop yet another avgas/mogas engine? The three cylinder 100 hp Gemini diesel engine weighs the same as my 80hp Limbach with even better fuel economy. Jet A 1 / Diesel fuel is available everywhere, and is inherently safer than petrol. see: www.ppdgemini.com Als...

Mode C transponder wanted.
First time I have visited this section, due the caption suggesting only items £100 and below are accepted. Perhaps this sales & wants section might be of more use if the caption was removed.
For instance I am looking for a used mode C transponder, and would hope to find one for less than £500?

Best mobile phone for WX on route UK & France?
Last time I flew round France my pre flight included checks on the WX at destination airfields. My ancient non WAP phone provided the info on SMS. But that facility seems to have died and I need to update my mobile phone. Modern phones seem to access the internet via the cell phone network, and pres...

Went flying yesterday, and no problems pulling my aeroplane out of the usually crowded hangar. Mine is the only C of A aircraft left, the rest have gone, and the guys on permits are looking just a bit smug. For me and probably others the extra paperwork can be tolerated, but the huge increases in fe...

Rod if only my little ATL was eligible for the LAA benefits. The old French system is/was not too disimilar to what you get in the LAA..The French answer to part M for simple EASA ELA1 aircraft is to give owners who do their own maintenance a restricted part 66 licence under 'grandfather rights' I a...

Thanks Paul you make my point very well. Sub part F wields the spanners & spare parts, doing the actual and real work on the aircraft. Sub part G wields a pen and manages paperwork relating to ADs, SBs, life limited items, maintenance manual, logbooks, contracts with owners, and fees for work that ha...

Part M is here. So is greed, stupidity, and ignorance.
Part M is very similar to the French system of maintenance. I own a French registered Robin ATL which has had four airworthiness reviews (for CDN/ARC issue/renewal)during my ownership. Until part M these reviews were done by my local GSAC surveyor who flew over from Lille every three years. Now unde...

I remember being taught to use the wizzwheel, and stopwatch and chart, during my PPL training. I thought it was an idiotic method of navigation then, and am appalled that it is still being taught as the primary method now. Those of us who still use such antique and error prone methods are probably t...

Hello John Thanks for the info on Aberporth. Some non-flying friends of mine have been concerned for some time about this development. I have passed this information on to them. The development of systems to enable UAVs to avoid midairs at lower levels may well benefit GA, but one wonders what might...

Latest LA mag.
LA mag May issue.
The magazine gets better & better, really enjoyed reading the latest May issue. Fascinating facts about alternative engines from Francis.
Wish I had some flying relatives to visit in N Zealand as per Oliver Smith!
Many thanks Brian for all your efforts as editor of LA.

Croses Criquet LC 6 Continental C 90 plans in English.
Some years ago I started the process of PFA approval for this home built aircraft. Francis Donaldson looked at the designers calculations and was very enthusiastic about the depth of detail carried out. He reported on his first flight in a Criquet in PF for Jan/Feb 1998. The next stage was actual fl...
