Hi All In my view both the pressure instruments ie ASI and Altimeter used in aircraft are relatively simple in operation and reliable. However blockages in the pitot and static feeds either at the ports or in the pipes can produce subtle indication errors which may be missed and are hard to test for...

Setting up an Ellison carb on a VW engine

I have a Barry Smith 1835 VW engine fitted with a Ellison carb which runs OK at idle and full throttle but runs roughly at mid-range settings about 2000rpm.
