Re: subscription renewal

Having lived in the USA I like the American system. Send an invoice or renewal reminder for say £50 dated dd/mm/yyyy and state if paid before that date it is £49 !!

Re: CAA Announcement on 600kg Microlights – LAA comment.

Chatting with David Cockburn (LAA Head of Training) our comment would be: As Steve says, we believe any changes to current categorisations are not expected until well into the future. We currently also understand that individual aircraft are to retain whatever categorisation they already hold, so if...

Re: Ciovid -19 and Permit Revalidation Check Flight

It is not uncommon to have to ballast an aircraft for a permit test flight. You have to get to 90% of the MAUW. I use a large ruck sack with an appropriate number of of bricks and strap it in securely with the seat belts. I also sometimes use breeze blocks if a large weight is required. If the seat ...

Re: Who actually issues a LAPL Medical Certificate?

The process is covered in:
https://publicapps.caa.co.uk/docs/33/CA ... Pilots.pdf
As far as I am aware, the GP should be able to issue the actual LAPL Medical

Re: Travel to airfield for self maintenance. Acceptable or not?

Would be interesting to ask them why they consider this is an essential shopping trip?

Re: Covid-19 Lockdown

Great to see that I am not the only one who is bored with gardening and watched Flight Radar to keep sane while on a "tea break"! I too picked up G-NICX just after it departed Southend. As this was obviously an LAA aircraft I was pretty amazed to see it apparently flouting the Government advice! The...

Re: LAA COVID ADVICE - STAY SAFE, FLY LATER.

CAA please note!

Nice to see that the wordings from CASA are in plain English and none of this exemption "this", sub-section "that", paragraph "whatever", sub-part "nn", sentence "aa" etc. that take an hour to decipher from whatever the original documention stated!

Re: Keeping Current

A Lapsed LAPL is not a major headache for someone who has been flying fairly regularly. The rules about keeping your LAPL licence current, and what to do if you don’t meet the requirements are: As most people realise, the"rolling validity" privileges of your licence remain valid if you have complete...

I don't use any other Forums.

Re: National Licensing and Medical Exemptions expire on Wednesday 8 April 2020

I just had a long conversation with the CAA FCL regarding this problem. To repeat: UK citizen UK national licence UK "G" registration aircraft with a UK CAA Certificate of Airworthiness Flying in the UK To the CAA: Q. What is illegal about the above? A. It is a matter of "Policy" and I would have to...

Re: National Licensing and Medical Exemptions expire on Wednesday 8 April 2020

Having a student who just completed his NPPL(M) to NPPL(SSEA) a couple of weeks ago it is a big hit to find out that he will not now be able to fly the PA28 owned by his father that he converted on. His NPPL(SSEA) licence is in the process of being issued by the Ivory Tower. He would have no problem...

Re: FIBERGLASS SPATS

Many moons ago when I used to own my CriCri I damaged one of the engine cowlings when the "start" rope toggle got stuck round the pulley and smashed off the whole back end of the cowling. I located a local "go-cart" racing outfit who were always having to mend broken fairings. They did a great job f...

This may sound stupid but I am not a "Forum", "Facebook", "Twitter" person at all and these modern expressions are relatively new to me - what is IMHO? Perhaps I need Coaching . . . ? I am...

The "Training" topic on the Forum states: "LAA have organised Training Days for our members. If you are interested, please register with HQ. See our website section Training for more information". As far as I can see, there is no "Training" section on the web site. Please could this be changed to re...
