Re: web site!!!!
The web site has been completely revamped by Lucy Wooton. There are inevitably bound to be some nits as a great deal of redundant material has been streamlined and/or edited out. If you notice something then please advise us. We already know of a couple of items which will be looked at as time permi...

Re: Prostate Cancer
December 2012 I thought I was fit and healthy, passed my class 2 medical. I had no symptoms and then found out I had stage three Prostate Cancer. Often there are no symptoms until it is too late. There is no screening program. It is up to you to request a check if after looking at the Prostate Cance...

Wanted! - 0-200 Crankshaft Starter Gear
Wanted! 0-200 Crankshaft starter Gear. Mine has damaged teeth from the starter pinion not engaging the crankshaft fully before engaging the power. The gear on the starter itself is also damaged beyond repair but I have another starter to replace this. I just need the gear for the cranckshaft end. I...

Re: Removal of an NPPL SSEA 'Single seat only' restriction
I believe you are correct.
CAP804 states:
3.9.1.1 Where the holder has not undertaken the skill test or the flying training specified in b) iii) above a certificate of revalidation may be issued but must be endorsed “single seat
only”

Re: New types progress chart
The PCS Coaching section of the web site has recently bee extensively updated to remove old and redundant material. However, I believe that the chart you are referring to comes under the "Engineering" tab so a note Francis Donaldson may jog things as it is not a PCS chart. Chris Thompson National Co...

Having lived in the USA I like the American system. Send an invoice or renewal reminder for say £50 dated dd/mm/yyyy and state if paid before that date it is £49 !!

Re: CAA Announcement on 600kg Microlights – LAA comment.
Chatting with David Cockburn (LAA Head of Training) our comment would be: As Steve says, we believe any changes to current categorisations are not expected until well into the future. We currently also understand that individual aircraft are to retain whatever categorisation they already hold, so if...

Re: Ciovid -19 and Permit Revalidation Check Flight
It is not uncommon to have to ballast an aircraft for a permit test flight. You have to get to 90% of the MAUW. I use a large ruck sack with an appropriate number of of bricks and strap it in securely with the seat belts. I also sometimes use breeze blocks if a large weight is required. If the seat ...

The process is covered in:

As far as I am aware, the GP should be able to issue the actual LAPL Medical

Re: Covid-19 Lockdown
Great to see that I am not the only one who is bored with gardening and watched Flight Radar to keep sane while on a "tea break"! I too picked up G-NICX just after it departed Southend. As this was obviously an LAA aircraft I was pretty amazed to see it apparently flouting the Government advice! The...

CAA please note!
Nice to see that the wordings from CASA are in plain English and none of this exemption "this", sub-section "that", paragraph "whatever", sub-part "nn", sentence "aa" etc. that take an hour to decipher from whatever the original documention stated!
