I wish to add my thanks to all of those involved in laying on the Sywell rally, allowing me and my wife to have a great time, meeting old friends, making new ones, drinking more than I should, spending more than I intended and having a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing weekend.
Thanks guys and gals.

I had the same experience as Steve. Last weekend I entered Dutch airspace at COA at 1200 feet and contacted Dutch MIL. I told them I was mode Charlie equipped, negative mode Sierra and asked if it was necessary for me to stay below 1200 feet. Negative he replied, so I asked for clearance to climb to...

And even if you haven't got a Garmin GPS, don't despair, there is a very useful open source program available for free download at www.gpsbabel.org which allows a huge range of GPS waypoint and route data to be easily converted from one manufacturers format to another. You can even type in a text fi...

AFPEX improvements

As some of you will know from postings on other forums, improvements have been made to the AFPEX flight plan system to provide much faster log-in. The PC no longer needs to download the multi-megabyte java application each time it runs so the time for log in has reduced considerably. I found that I ...

Thanks and congratulations to Sywell for the revival fly-in. The procedures seemed to work well, despite the testing cross winds, and the marshaling team from Air-Britain supporting the MKAS did a grand job. The guy in the tower did well, maintaining a pleasant disposition when dealing with so many ...

Nigel Good news indeed, but I notice that the joining instructions pointed to by the link in your email still refers to: "An exemption to rule 14 (2) of the Rules of the Air Regulations 2007 has been approved and pilots may land with other aircraft on the runway provided that; " Do you know for sure...

With less than a week to the UK RV fly-in at North Weald there are 47 participants registered so far. If any of the pilots other 169 flying RV's in the UK rad this then don't forget to register at www.rvuk.co.uk. Friday is a relaxed 'gathering day' with the main thrust being on Saturday, departure d...

John, as you say it is a shame there is a clash, it would have been good to see you and your machine at NW. Perhaps you could sneak in on Friday for a visit. Will Tibenham be in full swing on the Sunday? The Sunday is likely to be 'departure day' from NW so perhaps some of us could pop into Tibenham...

Andre Thanks for putting the MKAS point of view. Personally I don't have strong views on the Sywell arrangements, it is their fly-in and they can organise it how they like. As a LAA member / pilot I have the choice whether to go or not. For me, the troubling comment in your post was; For me, as inde...
