After pulling up into a steep climb in my Avid, the rev counter started reading erratically and the hour meter packed up. Not being totally electrically minded, is it likely to the gauge itself or somewhere further down the wiring?

I need to bleed the brakes on my Avid Hauler....how critical is it to use aviation grade brake fluid? I also understand it should be easier to "reverse" bleed from the caliber to the pedal master cylinder....is this an easy job?
