Don't forget ...
Could I also politely suggest that alongside the proposed motion, someone also puts forward a sincere vote of thanks to the awards committee for their efforts and endeavours. I am utterly convinced that the awards committee acted with integrity and good faith when making the award, and it would be e...

Re: Medical self-declaration
Having dug deep in the CAA site, I found this useful table:
http://publicapps.caa.co.uk/docs/33/CAP ... eTable.pdf
In short, you are right, LAPL privileges on EASA up to April 2018 ... of course, with "brexit" looming, who knows how that situation will change.

Re: BUILDING A PLANE IN SEVEN DAYS
You are correct, the Sling4 is mostly 6061-T6 which has better corrosion resistance than 2024 ... 2024 is usually "alclad" ie a few microns of pure aluminium on the surface to improve the corrosion resistance, however as the UK is pretty much entirely classed as a "salt air" enviroment, chromate and...

Re: Medical self-declaration
So, if I understand this correctly, as the holder of a "Poo Brown" UK "lifetime" PPL I can either: Self-certify and be able to fly LAA homebuilts operating under a permit but NOT the club C152 on a COA or Get an LAPL from my doctor and fly LAA homebuilts on a permit AND the club C152 ... but only wi...

Re: Welding your own fusalage
Ah, that may be more do-able then. I was planning to buy the structural/critical welded items from the kit maker, to keep things simple. If it was possible to weld the tanks, without sinking in a sea of paperwork, that is one part I would love to have a go at. Welding the tanks would be easy enough,...

Just waiting for my project pack to be signed off ... apparently no one has been dumb enough to build a Zenair CH750 from plans before, so it is quite understandable that it will take a little longer to review etc before being sent out.

Re: Welding your own fusalage
In a previous life, I used to own a largeish laser cutting and fabrication business. All my welding staff were "coded" to various levels, so I have some knowledge of the general principles involved. I don't have the exact CAA welder qualification details, but this YouTube video gives a good idea of ...

Re: aluminium flange and sheet 6061-T6 and 2024-T3.
And just to add ... if you are looking for small quantities (eg.a single 6x4 sheet or less) one of the regular home-build aero suppliers is probably your best option. If you are looking for a whole plane's worth, I would try All Metal Services in B'ham ... roughly 1/4 of the cost if you are buying m...
