Sounds like it could be a good event. Great place to visit Duxford. However I hope it will be an open fly-in without the usual Duxford slot restrictions and with accessable parking on the museum side, so we can look at each others aircraft and not be pushed off into a minibus away from the aircraft ...

This is really excellent news. I would imagine we might now see a few more of those Moth projects completed to flying condition a number of which were stalled awaiting and hoping to be able to go on a LAA permit. It certainly had the effect that a number of Austers came out of the woodwork and got f...

There is a guy named Michael Peare or very similar, he used to have a Condor flying club at Redhill and owned quite a few of them, wonder if he could give you some good ideas. He seems to do instructing in lots of different countries, so not sure where you might find him, maybe a google search or so...

I heard recently that all Taylorcraft aircraft are now allowed on LAA permits including newly imported aircraft. Most Taylorcraft are already on LAA permits, imported at a time when they were allowed to go on permits in the 80s, along with lots of Cubs, Luscombe, Vagabonds etc that since 1993 or so ...

you also need to remember that unfortuantely you will have to put them on your insurance before you let them fly your aircraft. Unless you have a policy for "any pilot"

aaggghh, so the date has changed again, back to the busiest weekend of the aviation calendar! Oh well, going to miss my first Rally in 32 years in 2012 I think, as I'll be at Blakesburg. I was very happy with the new date, 14/15/16 Sept which didnt clash with anything I wanted to go to! Appreciate y...

If you like the Jodel and want to keep flying something similar doing the same things, then you cant beat a Jodel. Building anything from plans will take you quite a long time and you really need to want to build, not just want the aircraft at the end of the project. Of course you could pick up a pa...

In answer to John Brady's question, no we dont want mode S mandatory! But Im sure you know that. Of course Mode S fittment, doesnt give you anything, you need TCAS or similar too, yet more money! Flarm sounds better, from what people say, I dont know anything about it. Can it detect me in my non rad...

Rob has got it right, people flying faster aeroplanes need to fly slower and plan better. sometimes it wont work, then an early go around is a good idea. I too fly an RV6 and can happily fly at 70mph, although not a lot slower, but I can still manage to stay behind most other aircraft, and even fit ...

Great Rally lots of interesting aircraft and everything seemed to work well for me, well except the weather on Sunday! Good to see a fair selection of vintage aircraft, as well as all the homebuilts. Too many highlights, but one must have been to see Martin Jones's Rollason Beta finally in the air a...

definitly not mandatory next year,
Loop are notoriously inacurate, but maybe this was in an advert, some adverts have been saying its mandatory for ages. May well be mandatory for class A airspace., but certainly not class G.

Hi Mike, Well I suppose you could say the guy that took us to the hangars was a freeloader, in that he didnt pay to come airside, but he spent his money in the cafe and didnt go anywhere he was supposed to pay. I guess getting people to pay as they come in the gate is the only solution to this. We w...

Hi Mike, thats fair enough, not wanting people to get in free and everyone pay their way, but when we were stopped we already had our wristbands and were already airside! Later on there was someone from Devon strut sitting on the other side of the runway at the start of the disused, about where we w...

I went today, thanks to the Devon strut for putting the event on, but where was everyone else, only about 20 visiting aircraft. (we were going to Schaffen-Diest but the weather was bad that way so went to Devon instead, it was fine all the way from Hinton never had to go much below 2000ft QNH, viz g...

actually theyve already done it once in 2009, in the prototype which I think was a 2 seater. quite a feat, but as you quote a number have done it before, but then again hundreds of thousands havent!
