Re: TDA Trial - Drones - Goodwood - Choke points!
Unfortunately I’ve only just found out about this consultation and it closed in mid January. why are these all kept secret. CAA should be announcing them on the Skywise email. While the TDA will be a pain, create choke points and make life difficult for anyone flying in that area, especially those o...

Re: ALL MEMBERS ! Please fill out those proxy forms..!!
Wow, what a lot of conspiracy theories and suppositions! I am glad to see that Harry Hopkins has set the record straight regarding the 2014 award, as he also did at the 2016 AGM. The award was made fairly and met the criteria, although with hindsight might have been awarded to the whole team. None o...

Re: French Customs Airfields
Donald, thanks for the bad news! But I looked at the document you mention and indeed Abbeville is not in it. But I looked at the date and it appeared to be June 2016. However I cleared customs twice at Abbeville In Sept 2016 as I know did many others. So all a bit confusing! The official AIP entry f...

Re: Tracey Curtis-Taylor
Chris, I don't think this has been contained very we'll in the LAA, if you do an internet search, it's all over every aviation internet new site, as well as in most mainstream newspapers. What a shame all this publicity couldn't be in a positive light for the LAA. I wonder if the LAA AGM has ever be...

Re: Scaling up scaled down aircraft
Perhaps you should investigate if plans were made for the full size replica Hawker Fury, built by Viv Bellamy (Westward Airways) G-BKBB, which is now in the US with Jerry Yeagan's collection the Military Aircraft Museum at Virginia Beach. It was on a Permit to fly, but perhaps at that time a CAA Per...

Re: Tracey Curtis-Taylor
Bill, Im fairly sure she wasn't asked to leave the room when the vote was taken and she was allowed in the AGM as an LAA member. She was near the back of the room, behind me, so I couldn't see. There were a small number of abstentions 6 or 7. Sam, well I know more now, having read this thread and ot...

Re: Tracey Curtis-Taylor
I went to the AGM today to meet friends, see what aircraft turned up and listen to the Lancaster Pilot's talk. I knew of TCTs flights, that she flew with someone else and there were support aircraft, I also knew there was this motion to rescind her award, but I hadn't been on this forum for a few mo...

Re: Red tape: Hi-vis and PPR by telephone
I agree, the less we amplify these red tape practices the better. Most airfields that have these "rules" seem to only have them in their ops manual anyway and never require them for day to day operation. Many "PPR" airfields Ive phoned have told me nothing that wasn't in the flight guide, infact mos...

Re: Free Landing Vouchers
Hi Brian, yes I think you are right, the current procedure is probably the best. Agree with you Its certainly better to get the Dec magazine in Dec! I must admit, I don't really tend to go places much if Im flying in the week, as often you go somewhere and there is no one around and all the hangars ...

Re: Free Landing Vouchers
Yes Ive never been asked to produce my LAA membership card to use a voucher! Cant say I ever carry it around with me, so wouldn't be able to and it doesn't say anywhere on the voucher that you have to be a member to use it. Just like those pilot/flyer magazine vouchers, you don't have to prove you a...

Re: Southend Controlled Airspace
No Thanks Pete! I have no desire to land at any of these regional airfields, at many of them there is nothing there! add to that security jobsworths, just going for a cup of tea in the café could be problematic! Just trying to get them to have an appropriately minimum sized piece of controlled airsp...

Re: Rally landing fees increased again!
Yes it was a great Rally again, I flew in all 3 days and had a great time, some really nice aircraft on show and some of the landings were great entertainment! Shame about the crosswind some of the time, which no doubt deterred some people, particularly in the lighter aircraft. Back to the fees, yes...

Rally landing fees increased again!
The Website highlights no increase in entry charges for 5 years, yes the entry fee by road is still ridiculously cheap at £5 per member for the whole weekend. But for members (or non members) by air, its gone up again! Yes someone coming once still only pays £10 for them and all in their aircraft, b...

Re: Heading to Europe - Advice Welcome
When I went to Czech a few years ago, I asked the Czech CAA for permission and was told that it wasn't required, they quoted me part of their AIP which said as much, although this was actually for ultralights, they seemed to apply it to all permit to fly aircraft. A Foxbat is certainly classified as...

Re: ELT/PLB in France
Where does it say that permit aircraft require an ELT? It always used to be that C of A aircraft required an ELT, but permit aircraft (French designation CNRA) did not. I don't have one and never been asked for one. I would say that if the French regulations say ELT, then only an ELT will do if you ...
