Well Tim, if I was your Inspector, I'd be looking for a Steel plate in or around the cockpit in plain view. If you had an LAA aluminium one present as well I'd certainly admire it for a moment but I don't think I'd be particularly fussed unless it was fastened to some primary structure or hanging of...

Shouldn't be a problem. Get your Inspector to look at it then submit the paperwork to Engineering as usual. This is the first time I've seen this problem and my guess is that a lower grade and cheaper material has been used in the manufacture of these springs form the original drawing specs. It doesn't mean that mags are any less reliable, it's just that little attention has been paid to them over the yea...

Just thought I'd pull this one back to the top of the pile Steve. I've had starting problems on a Lycoming 0-360 engine which was zero houred with new slick mags.(4373 and 4370 with 10 minutes run about 6 months ago). Impulse coupling fitted to the left mag only and giving no spark whatsoever, so I ...

It looks ornamental to me as it is Rob but as it's nearly new, is there a Manufacturers warranty? If it is coming away at that part of the leading edge I'd guess that the rest of it might not be very secure either. How was it for balance/ tracking etc or has it picked up a chucky stone while you've ...
