HIGH BAROMETIC PRESSURE – CHECK YOUR ALTIMETERS!

Some timely advice from Eurocontrol. After several days of low pressure, it is expected that barometric pressure will increase to a record 1050 hPa this weekend. This could particularly have implications for pilots flying below controlled airspace as recorded altitudes may be lower than actual. Chec...

CAA CONSULTATIONS - AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY

The launch of two CAA consultation documents (search online for CAP1823 and CAP1839) propose expanding the types of aircraft allowed to be used for initial paid private pilot training. If the proposals were to be enacted, it would allow certain Permit to Fly aeroplanes and amateur-built microlights ...

The forum may look the same, but its now running on a new, more secure, platform. Our software contra...

Carbon Monoxide In Cockpits - A Reminder

The recent AAIB finding on the tragic accident to the aircraft carrying Emilano Sala and pilot David Ibbotson, that high levels of Carbon Monoxide were found in the footballers body, is a timely reminder that piston engine aircraft produce high concentrations of CO. These are normally conveyed away ...

Re: Clutton FRED running costs?

A FRED's wings fold readily, but you really need an hour of faffing (and a robust checklist) to remove and replace the tailplane and rudder if you are wanting to tow the aircraft to and from home. Also bear in mind that FRED's simple wheel bearings don't last too long if you're towing for any distan...

Hi all, You'll see below the official LAA statement regarding the votes at the 2018 AGM. While there have been some well expressed opinions on both sides of this argument, I think its time we now moved on. I've therefore asked that our moderator closes this thread. Thanks for all your contributions ...
