Rationalising PPL (D) microlight and NPPL (SSEA)

I am posting on behalf of a friend who has a UK PPL(D) mircolight and subsequently got a SSEA rating which is printed on NPPL licence. Should the microlight rating have been transferred on to the NPPL? Is it still possible to do this? Is there any benefit or disadvantage of doing this? For revalidat...

Night Rating & NPPL - Thank You!

I would like to extend a huge thank you to all those involved in gaining approval for the addition of a night rating on an NPPL. Thank you to Jon Cooke for his advice on the application process.

With my new rating, I hope to fly at night in the circuit on Saturday!

Re: Snap vent vs vista vent

Thanks. Have been looking at these two. Trying to decide on which to go for. Think the vista will be easier for me to fit on my own with minimal kit but may not allow in as much air.

Re: Snap vent vs vista vent

Thanks for the info and explaining your method Brian.

I thought the vista vent was a 2 1/4 inch hole. (https://www.lasaero.com/site/products/a ... =l039ldlqd)

Are there other varieties and sizes?

Snap vent vs vista vent

Apologies if this has already been discussed. I did try to search for it. I am hoping to install some vents in the perpex windows of my Jodel soon. I am considering both snap vent and Vista-vent from LAS. I was going to heat up the perspex with a fan heater, tape it with masking tape and drill very ...

Replacement bench seating

I've just bought a Taylorcraft and intend to replace the current seating arrangement which involves two thin pieces of foam covered in leather placed on a fabric sling style side-by-side bench seat. I would be looking at options to improve both the safety and comfort of the seating whilst maintainin...

Re: NPPL after April 2018

Thanks for the info. I agree that flexibility to permit training is welcome. However, what I meant was that if in the future EASA permits an exception can be made to permit a student to fly solo in an EASA aicraft on a self-declaration at a UK flying school then a qualified NPPL pilot should be perm...

Night rating for NPPL

As the ANO 2016 permits the addition of a night rating to an NPPL, I thought I would make a start and hope to be finished in the next week or so. Has anyone successfully added a night rating to a NPPL yet? If so, which form did you use? Is it sent to the LAA? Will there be an equivalent Temporary Li...

Re: NPPL after April 2018

It is the solo flight I am referring to. If they permit a student to fly solo in an EASA aircraft on a medical self-declaration then it makes a mockery of the new EASA restrictions on UK and EASA licences.

NPPL after April 2018

If the changes regarding UK licence priviledges and EASA aircraft do occur on 8th April 2018, 1) How will students train for a NPPL using a Medical Self-Declaration unless they are paying an instructor to train them in an Annex II aircraft they own or own a share in given that they will not be able ...

Re: Rental of LAA aircraft

Ian Melville it's a self-declaration. Working on getting a LAPL medical. If it does get approved, it's not going to happen overnight sadly.
