The way people are getting so aerated anyone would think membership was expensive! At around 50 quid p.a (slightly more to join, less to renew) what's to quibble about. It's less than an afternoon's flying for a lot of us! Compare that with what you actually get (magazine) and have access to (engine...

Re: Oil Screen
Rob, if Lycoming designed the engine to operate with an oil screen then that should be perfectly adequate. Good point and I'd agree with that were it not for the fact that Lycoming produce their own oil filter conversion! Trouble with theirs (as I understand it) is that it sticks straight out the b...

Vortex generators always strike me as something used to offset problems elsewhere in a design. But then I'm well known for my cynicism! I do appreciate that this is not the case with an ARV, so why turn a nice looking aircraft into a short spined porcupine. As a matter of interest Mike Moulai of Sil...

Lycoming oil filter
I've got a Lycoming O-320 in my RV6 which just has an oil screen, not a 'proper' filter. I've nosed around for a filter conversion and there seem to be a selection of choices including Lycoming's own and various after market ones. Van's sell (and presumably recommend) the Casper Labs one that turns ...

Jamie, This is probably hopelessy simplistic, but I'll suggest it anyway. If you look on G-INFO for aircraft type KR2 then there's 2 pages of aircraft. You probably know this. Have you realised that for home built aircraft the Manufacturer field on the form is the person who built it. If you work th...

Web Strut
How about a Virtual Strut based around a bulletin board, probably this one? This idea was raised on the old BB but seeing as that's now been torpedoed I thought I'd open the discussion again here. I know that the rules as they stand indicate Struts have to be geographically based, but we have the Ed...

If it means that Permit aircraft will be able to be flown unhindered all over the EU by a pilot with an NPPL (EUPPL? Recreational PPL?) that can optionally include Instrument, Night and Instructor ratings then I'd class EASA as being "A Good Thing". Otherwise all we've achieved is a load of aggravat...
