Re: VW engine mount rubber bushings

Hi Tony

I have just noticed that they also look like the Lycoming bushes stocked by LAS (part no SL71032)

http://www.lasaero.com/site/products/ar ... =Z049DX7FP

Perhaps give LAS a call with some dimensions?

Re: VW engine mount rubber bushings

Hello Tony, Great Plains have bushes on their site: http://www.greatplainsas.com/scengmounts.html The Great Plains mounts look the same as the early Continental bushes (A65/C85) which LAS have on their site (part no SA22387) http://www.lasaero.com/site/products/article?id=T02VRSSMD Hope this helps P...

Burden VW Conversion

Hello All,

Does anyone have any contact details for Derek Burden of Lyster Aviation fame? I have a VW with a Burden conversion and I would like to be able to ask him some questions about the conversion if possible.

Thanks in advance

Re: Magneto overhaul

With any suggestions and guidance comes caveats. If - you are doing 200 hours per year, as my Brother is in his Cub Cruiser, then a 500 hour overhaul/inspection is probably a waste of money. If you are doing 20 hours a year, then common sense would say that at 500 hours - OMG, your mags would need ...

Re: Disappointed of Berkshire

I think that this is in line with the mandatory retirement age for commercial pilots. There are quite a few of them that aren't happy with the 65 limit!

Subaru EA-81

Does anyone have any experience of operating this engine in a LAA type?

It seems that most of the specialists for this engine have gone out of business but it seems like a good alternative to the VW route, is this correct?

Re: Rotax and Avgas

Hi guys, I hate to rain on your parade but the 'Super' unleaded fuels, regardless of whether they contain ethanol, are not the same as EN228 and therefore legally not permitted for use in aeroplanes. The CAA regs specifically call for EN228 without ethanol. Super unleaded fuels (like BP Ultimate) a...

Re: Rotax and Avgas

I tested the super unleaded at my local Esso station recently at it was negative for Ethanol. I was also pleased to see that the pump showed that it conformed to BS EN228 where as some super unleaded fuels don't. The downside is that it is 12p a litre more than regular unleaded, but that is still 50...

Re: Safe Storage of MOGAS

Hi John, I see your predicament, but storing fuel indoors is just asking for trouble. Apart from anything the containers will smell. Perhaps some kind of tank for the car could be an idea. The racing guys make tanks that fit in the spare wheel well, that would then be all legal and above board and c...

Re: Gascolator position

I wouldn't. I looked to buy a Pulsar that had one inside the cockpit. The last I saw of it the owner and his mate were bailing out fuel from the cockpit next the the runway hold..............

Re: Facet fuel pump

These Facet pumps on LAS free flow according to the description http://www.lasaero.com/site/products/article?id=F01TOTXXH I have one of these fitted to my Minicab and I recently happily drained over 30 litres of fuel out of the gascalotor with the in-line pump off and it flowed at quite a rate, no s...

Hi - the C90 and O-200 are notorious in their poor mixture distribution. This is mainly due to the tortuous long inlet tubes, the offset nozzle and the design of the cold spider positioned so close to the throttle valve. There is no time for the mixture to fully atomise before it is 'split' so this...
