Re: Boscombe Down Airspace Change Proposal

Colin, does it appear to you that the proposal is reasonable and can you see any areas where the change would be an issue for somebody? EGD 120B to the west looks like it might be. I note that transits would be approved "subject to work load" but that is a standard cop out phrase that means nothing....

GAA Launches Airspace Changes

As part of the Future Airspace Strategy VFR Implementation Programme, the General Aviation Alliance is sponsoring 2 airspace changes in the South of England. The first proposes to change the classification of Airway Q41 from Class A to Class D below FL80 to improve the safety of aircraft flying VFR ...

Re: Southend Controlled Airspace

I know there is a view that pilots did not bother to check notams or use Aware/Skydemon or just decided to ignore the RMZ. If you use skydemon but the Misc or Other Airspace box is not checked in the setup menu (as mine was not because that is mostly unimportant clutter) the RMZ does not appear at a...

Anyone have a 5 inch Skydemon mobile GPS unit for sale please? That unit will fit in my panel space but Ipads are too big.

Flymap L

Does anyone know what is happening about support for Flymap devices now Pioneer Avionics has gone? Anyone know if there is a way to get Skydemon to work in Flymap L?

Re: Radio Mandatory Zone (size of a CTR) Southend from 18/7/

lets step back from the "disgusted of Tonbridge Wells" posts and look at this RMZ in perspective. 1. For some time there has been a view at the CAA that the step between Class G and a Class D CTR/CTA was too big. The RMZ and TMZ have been formalised to fill that gap. 2. The fact that Southend applie...

Future Airspace Strategy VFR Programme Coordinator

Tim Hardy and I (both LAA members) are co-chairing the FAS VFR Implementation Group having taken the task from the CAA as a follow-on the Class G Working Group which we did not think was doing our operation any favours. Eryl Smith has been the programme coordinator but unfortunately he has been head...

Re: Humber Gateway TMZ

Just to be clear, the NOTAM depicted on Skydemon is just an advance notice that the OFFSHORE TMZs will be coming into effect. The area covered by that NOTAM is a large circle but that is not the actual area of the TMZs. If you read the NOTAM it is clear that this is just a notice not an exclusion. J...

Doncaster Airspace - Last chance to comment

Dear Members,

Inputs to the CAA review of the Doncaster controlled airspace close today. I have had nothing in response to my request in the magazine but if you have anything to offer about issues with the CAS for the LAA letter, please post it here by 1700 today. Then it is Christmas....

Re: Southend Controlled Airspace Consultation Closes 19 Dece

Dear All, You will have seen that Southend Airport is consulting on the establishment of a vast area of controlled airspace which the LAA is opposing. The closing date is 19 December . It would help our cause if you were able to send your own response even if it was quite brief. The main points are ...
