Re: Maps

I'm curious - if you've got Sky Demon, why do you need to purchase extra charts for those countries? They use official data from each country. Having said that, I haven't used Rocket Route recently, but at 79p each, these 1/250 charts look a bit of a bargain: http://goo.gl/EYr8e2 and SMATSA looks a ...

Re: Insurance recommendations?

Only Traffords have the unique EC785/2004 rate fluctuation guarantee that you will always have at least the legal minimum liability cover whilst flying (for example if a currency crashes as the law is not written in pounds sterling). I'm struggling with this one, John: a) I'd strongly recommend not...

Re: Availability of Mogas / UL91, both in UK and Europe - up

This is also a possible source for MOGAS airfields: https://goo.gl/PQG0to

Mainly for Germany, Austria, but some Czech Republic, Switzerland, Italy, Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary.

The same site has wider coverage for AVGAS: https://goo.gl/MbzbjY particularly France.

Re: Availability of Mogas / UL91, both in UK and Europe - up

Here's a MOGAS / UL91 chart for Germany (dated June 2015): http://goo.gl/fT0zjQ

and a MOGAS chart for Austria (May 2014): http://goo.gl/3Ji5ag

Currently researching Czech Republic and Slovakia, and would appreciate any info.

Thanks.

Re: MOGAS AND FORECOURT SALES

Apologies if this has already been posted already, but the owner of these 11 stations in Sussex:

http://local-fuels.co.uk/our-service-stations/1232287

has told me that all his/their stations offer 100% premium unleaded gasoline conforming to BS EN228 (not E5) ethanol free.

Re: Availability of Mogas / UL91, both in UK and Europe

This may be useful for flying east....a chart showing MoGas airfields in Germany, though dated May'15:

Re: Insurance recommendations?

There are several reasons why Visicover is worth a look: 1) All negotiations online, so you can tweak various permutations of cover until you get the one you (and maybe your co-owners) need, without endless correspondence to your broker. When you do need to talk to them, they're extremely helpful. 2...

Re: Goatthroat pumps for overwing refueling

I should have added this link to the Goatthroat site: http://goo.gl/u5GuWF

(I've no financial involvement with them, besides being a recent customer)

Goatthroat pumps for overwing refueling

We'd appreciate hearing from anyone using a Goatthroat pump for refueling their aircraft.

We've started using one, and interested in discussing their use.

Goatthroat is a simple (but arguably expensive) means of pressurising fuel containers to provide a continuous fuel flow.

Advice sought on group fuel usage

We're a group of four, flying a Eurofox, with a Rotax 912, mainly using Mogas and occasionally UL91. Approx. consumption 15 litres/hr, fuel tanks hold 80 litres usable. Mogas is via jerry cans, and from (rare) airfields with a pump. What's the simplest way of dealing with fuel finances? One suggesti...

Re: Availability of Mogas / UL91, both in UK and Europe

Some more info on France: From Francoflyers (thanks): Chartres (LFOR) has a Carrefour Supermarket with petrol a short 10mins walk away. St Junien (LFBJ) also has a supermarket with fuel which is an even shorter walk. Also, Saint Exupéry ( http://www.navigeo.org/LF4724 ) has Mogas, plus a Rotax servi...

Re: Availability of Mogas / UL91, both in UK and Europe

This is Total's map for UL91 availability at French airfields: http://www.total.fr/carburants/les-carburants-aviation/avgas-91-ul.html and, in theory, this could be useful for service stations near airfields, by drilling through to villages/sites near airfields: http://www.total.fr/stations-service/...

Re: Availability of Mogas / UL91, both in UK and Europe

That's really useful - thanks, Tim. I'm sure there's a lot more info out there, and maybe we could publish the latest info either on the Forum or a page on the LAA website? Talking to other pilots there are plenty of anecdotal tips about airfields with service stations nearby or on site, which doesn...

Re: Availability of Mogas / UL91, both in UK and Europe

Thanks, David - that's useful. I've just found this database, and not just for fuel: http://goo.gl/0So6fo with info on over 10,000 airfields, though producing only one Mogas site in France, which seems unlikely. Only one in Switzerland and two in Spain, which maybe implies the info is out-of-date. A...
