Permission to fly in France on an NPPL(SSEA)

There is another recent thread on this, but it got a bot off topic and mixed up with 'official channels' which I guess will get there, but not for a year or two. It is simple really: Has any NPPL(SSEA) holder, ever received official personal permission to use it in France, either temporarily or perm...

Adrian You have brought this thread right back in line with the original intent, thanks. I would like to think our direct emails to LAA (I certainly sent one anyway) and maybe this very thread played a part in Peter making his recent comment. Yes - all we need is a sensible person to ask in France -...

Donald It is ironic. We are no less safe in our new aeroplanes, although I can see the reason for the change in licence approach as we cross a virtual weight boundary and the legacy reasons that brings into play. I agree with your analysis and action plan. Given that you and me have a real need here...

Rich

Get a 4-man syndicate, and your SportCruiser will cost only 12K each

It does not matter if you get a divorce, you can be sure of attracting all the ladies you want (and maybe some you you don't) when you land at your first fly-in.

Donald

I don't see the CAA as being the problem here, I'm sure you agree.

Assuming Jon is stuck or busy, what would be your next move - is there any point in speaking to CAA? (my personal dealings with CAA recently have been very good)

Brand new ASI for sale 30-180MPH range

For sale: Brand-new Falcon gauge (Chinese made) 3 1/8 inch (full size) ASI for sale. Marked 30-180MPH, with SportCruiser green, white, yellow arcs to suit SC speed range. These arcs are stuck on to the dial (not the glass), so could be easily removed for use in a different aircraft. Spare adhesive a...

Ben,

Okay, that is a bit clearer. What are the timescales, and who is it that decides? Is there any scope for discussion (delay) or appeal (rejection) from anybody?

Donald My French is poor, but good enough to understand Yvette's reply, and from that it looks very clear that NPPL SSEA is not acceptable in France. Assuming Yvette is stating current DGAC policy, that leads me to two subsequent questions: - How are other NPPL SSEA pilots doing it? (I can guess the...

The answer is LAA managed training, it is as simple as that. Hand-holding people from their very first air-experience right through training to licence holder leads ultimately to committed aircraft ownership. The merger with the BMAA should help, they have been doing it for over 20-years. When are w...

Well done all LAA and BMAA executives, I can't quite believe it!

With a bit of strong leadership, even the majority of members might follow and I can save on one of my membership fees!

Steve

Is your electric heater wired through a separate switch, or does it just come on with your master switch? Or maybe something else?

Jonathan Thanks, I spoke to Dave at Hi-Flight (Simon is on leave). He knows exactly what I am talking about (the paint is actually called Nextal). Apprantly it is also used on stealth aircraft. Even better, they have a SportCruiser in the shop right now, complete with filled rivets (7,000 of the lit...
