Thanks for confirming that, Nigel. I was getting excited too about the 91UL in an O320-B, from reading a Lycoming bulletin, but alas it doesn't seem to be the same stuff as 91/96UL, that is approved, but isn't available in the UK as far as I know. Maybe if 91UL ends up with too small a market, they ...

Thanks Tom, on behalf of John Marshall, YES Vice-chairman who did all the work on it. Obviously thanks also to all the people who kept youngsters in the loop with flights, experience days etc, and gave us the material to publish.

Thanks Martyn. I'm not sure why it was changed this time, but good you noticed and found the right one.

What did you think of the effort?

Looking on HMRC webpages I found this:- If I send goods to a non-EU country for repair and return, and they are under guarantee do I have to pay duty and VAT? No, if they are repaired free of charge under a guarantee or warranty, you can claim total relief from Import Duty and VAT, however you will ...

I seem to have to log on each time I visit the forum now. Is there a way to get round this - I never needed to before. I do tick the always log me on automatically box.

Should I enter from the LAA members area, perhaps?

It's helpful for a reminder of the normal procedures for a meeting, but the chairman is the person with the job of insisting on procedures being observed, and I'm pleased to say that it worked well with Graham Newby, as it has previously with other chairmen. It goes without saying that anyone who st...

They were on the YES stand. I also help at the Bristol Aero Collection museum at Kemble and we were given some boxes of the books to give out to visiting groups and families, so I brought some to the Rally.

Drop me an email and we can sort something out. dave at flyers.org.uk

Jim Gale has had issues with the Jabiru 2200 in the Devon Build-a-Plane, which led to actual engine damage due to overheating, and I believe has now solved his problem. It would probably be worth getting in touch with him. jmgale at btinternet.com

Err, should I correct that to read COSHH - control of substances hazardous to health - or just keep quiet?

It's true that most of the daft things that happen in the name of H&S are over-interpretations of the law, but equally, people do some daft things because they don't realise they are daft!

Nigel, post no. 2 mentions case and stud problems. My point is distortion of the barrels themselves. Who's not paying attention? ;-)

In the VW car world, the thinner walled barrels can distort all too easily. I guess it would be the same for the aircraft conversions. They may be slightly lighter, but at the cost of reduced stiffness.

Brian, I wasn't really expecting the marketing guys to come along, but as they had wanted clarification as to whether it was LAA or YES (still a strut of the LAA) and I was able to confirm it is LAA, I kind of hoped there might be some response. Thanks for yours, and I shall no doubt be seeing you a...

Hmm, no new messages, no replies here. Guess no-one wants to come to enjoy the show and meet the public to encourage an interest in GA. Not surprising, I suppose, when LAA marketing didn't even realise the LAA presence at the Royal International Air Tattoo has existed for several years. In the past....

AIR TATTOO, FAIRFORD; 16/17 JULY

For several years there has been an LAA stand in the TRI@RIAT section of the show. We share a marquee with Scouts and Daleks, and have activities for kids and one or both of the BaPs on display. The show attracts a large number of the aviation-minded public and is a good showcase for the LAA. This y...
