Can anyone tell me the correct way to fix, say a 9" L zip of the type used on the rear of an Auster fuselage. Should the fabric part of the zip be stitched or glued to the fabric covering.
TIA

Gipsy exhaust valves
Does anyone know of a supply of the half inch sodium filled exhaust valves for the Mk 10, I'm potentially looking for two, preferably at a price less than the equivalent weight in gold!

Re: Recovering/respraying a fuselage
Thanks Brian, in answer to your query, It's going to be a good quality automotive 2k with flexible additive mixed in, applied directly on top of Silver Nitrate dope, the fabric will be Ceconite. The wings, I'm told, were done this way circa 10 years ago and still look great. The main concern for me ...

Recovering/respraying a fuselage
I'm planning to recover my Terrier's fuselage next Spring, excluding the tailplane, elevators, doors and the aluminium front end. "I wonder, has anyone here undertaken this job", and if so could you give me an estimate as to how much paint I should budget to use, the finish coats will be polyurethane ...

Re: HVLP kit
Sorry to butt in on this but I just wonder if any expert has experience with spraying poly 2K on to Ceconite fabric. Two years ago I recovered the doors on my Terrier, I'd done some research and concluded that the best route was Nitrate dope followed by butyrate and UV coat then the poly 2k top coat...

Re: Magneto overhaul
The fault has now been identified, it is the impulse. whilst on the bench if you turn the impulse and let go immediately after the click it sparks every time, but, if you keep hold of the impulse coupling after the click, as though simulating it being on the engine with the drag of the gear etc it w...

Re: Magneto overhaul
The 500 hour is an SB, not an AD. It is not a requirement, it is a recommendation. That said - if the mags are running fine, don't fiddle and if your Inspector 'insists' on an overhaul at 500 hours......... change your Inspector 8) How very true!! Slight drift here but I wonder if anyone has come a...

Re: Manhours for recovering a Supercub?
Forgive the drift, but has anyone here recovered an Auster fuselage? Ideally I want to recover the sides and top, fin included, without disturbing the underside which is in good condition. Thoughts anyone?

Gipsy Major 10-1-1 propeller hub removal tool
This is a bit of a long shot I suspect, but, I have an engineer friend who would be able to make a puller/extractor for removing the the prop hub from my 10-1-1. This was done once before using the correct tool for the job, unfortunately the latter has been lost. below is a link to a 'laser' tool wh...

Does anyone know what size the thread is on the oversize exhaust studs? ( the end that inserts into the cylinder head)

Re: Ceconite 2'' bias cut pinked tape
Hi Tony
Yes I think it will, in fact if it's 3'' you have that would be better because I'd forgotten to allow for the shrinkage when pulling round the radius. Perhaps you will pm me with the details and a price etc.
Thanks
Terry
