Airspace
Anyone who flies in the South East will know Southend are putting in for a huge zone that will be a pain for VFR flights When they had an advisory area before the Olympics it was 3 times the area of Heathrow's for around 2% of the traffic! So why don't we petition that airports have to pay the gover...

MAULE TAILWHEEL
If anyone wants a Maule tailwheel assembly send me a PM. It's the free castoring type so is a bit lighter than the later ones. It weighs 8lbs ready to fit and is used on a fair number of homebuilts.
However it makes ground handling a little more interesting.
£70 to LAA members.

Re: Manhours for recovering a Supercub?
As to how long it takes to cover Auster wings, according to my log when I did mine it took me 77 hours. Mine is a short wing so is 1 rib less than the long wing ones. To stitch a rib on my own took 45 minutes and a short one where the aileron is took 35 minutes. I could do 3 ribs and then took a bre...

Is the tailwheel the inflateable sort? If so how much do you want for it?

ADS TECHNICAL
Has anyone got access to the ADS technical publications cds please? I need to look up the SBAC 1 spline which may well be in there. However I don't fancy buying them as they are over £3700!

I've written a couple of childrens books a bit like the Thomas the tank engine series, but need an artist to do the pictures. The idea is they do the pictures, I do the words and if we manage to sell them we split the money equally between us? Any takers out there send me a PM. I'm bracing myself fo...

Re: High wing fuel tank drain valve.
I fittedd three Curtis valves to my Auster at rebuild as previously she had only removeable wire locked bolts! The snag with the wing ones as Ken correctly predicted is you can catch your head on them! However as I've never found water from any of them I can't say if the gascolator would catch anthi...

Re: Southend Airport Controlled Airspace
Well if they had to pay for it by the square mile as they proposed with the radio frequency's then maybe they would be a bit more thoughtful?

I've just noticed the gap between the Paralympics no fly and the corner of Stanstead TMZ is less than 2 miles wide. Is it just me or does funneling the entire East West GA route into a gap this wide look like a recipe for a mid air?

Re: Airfield for Sale
Oh I agree, lots has been done but it's a bit like a part built aircraft project. Only worth a fraction of the money spent until it's finished. It would need a huge amount spent on it to get a viable museum there and I can't see anyone doing that. I may be wrong and I look forward to developments th...

Airfield for Sale
I gether the WW1 airfield at Stow Maries is for sale. The asking price is 2 million quid but I gether the land is worth as farmland around 750k. Sounds a bit optimistic to me as there is a strict limit to the number of movements and the vast majority of buildings are derelict. Much of it is listed a...

Re: Gipsy major, again.
Strangley most of the threads on the Gipsy are metric as it was derived from the Renault engine. As no self respecting engineer had metric spanners in those days this gave rise to nuts with metric threads and imperial sized heads! In this case as it's a stud I'd try a metric thread gauge on one.
