I have been with them for about 18 months and found them speedy and courteous.

Power source for strobe?
Hi, I have a 12v strobe that appears completely self-contained. It was installed by a previous owner, just two wires are dangling down from it. I have an electrical source; battery and generator. Jodel D112 with MDL starter modification and wiring diagram. Where is the best take-off for a power sour...

Re: Permit renewal?
Hoping that I can get some sort of extension too. Was unlucky in that I got caught after Inspector sign-off, but before test flight! So my permission to test will almost certainly expire before we are let out. This will take me outside the permit expiration plus one-year. Which then needs LAA permis...

Re: Lubricating BTH Magneto?
On the advice of Tony Stairs (very experienced magneto specialist), do NOT do this.
It could cause more problems than it solves.
Based on old information that may no longer be best practice.

Lubricating BTH Magneto?
Hi, we are just about to lubricate the impulse mag with "5cc of colloidal graphite"! This is engine oil mixed with graphite and is done every 50 hrs. Engine is Gipsy Major. Just asking all you experienced operators out there if this sounds about right please? Any other tips much appreciated. Thanks,...

Re: Suitable Material for Protecting Struts?
Thanks for all replies. In the end, we used a base layer of clear prop tape - then layered three turns of coloured insulating tape (as per manual) on top. It worked well, looks good and is removable easily and cheaply for inspection. Will try to post a photo. Simon https://photos.google.com/search/_...

Re: Suitable Material for Protecting Struts?
Thanks Chris.
Auster.
An Engineer has advised that propellor tape around the strut works well.
The Auster book (1950's) says "Insulating Tape".
The clamp had leatherette before - but as it is fabric backed, this does not seem a good option if directly contacting strut, as it retains water.

Suitable Material for Protecting Struts?
Hi, appreciate advice on how best to protect a strut from damage by Jury Strut Clamps? On our previous struts, the leatherette held water in contact (fabric backed), this created serious corrosion areas,. So bad, in fact, that we had to purchase replacement struts! Would thin rubber be better? "Empi...

Re: Wing to Fuselage Gap - Rubber Strip?
Thanks Frank.
I have found some rolls for sale on ebay at £30 for 12cm wide, 5-10 metres, 3mm thick, neoprene rubber with cloth reinforcement.
Provided my engineer approves, looks like it might be fit.

Wing to Fuselage Gap - Rubber Strip?
Hi, has anybody got information on where to find some rubber strip to wrap around the wing to fuselage joint please? It happens to be on an Auster, but I am sure many aircraft need the same strip. Initially the gap is taped, then the rubber strip laid on, held in place with a sprung steel band. I wo...

Wing Strut Bolts - Washers?
We are just about to fit new wing strut bolts to an Auster J1N.
The book (not updated since 50s/60s) clearly shows no washers under the bolt heads.
The aircraft arrived with washers under the bolt heads!
Does anyone have a best practice please?
Thanks,
Simon
