If you do decide on the GRT Mini I would deal with Grand Rapids Technology directly.
Although they have no European agents I have found them an excellent company to deal with and their products are of high end quality. I had a GRT EFIS in my last aircraft and it was a brilliant piece of kit.

Re: CX4 progress
Yes I too noticed that in this months magazine. It is a shame that the type hasn't achieved a bit more success in the uk. It would be great to hear a few details and maybe see a few pics?

Re: Aluminium Priming
I would most definitely prime! There are quite a few RV's in the UK with some extensive corrosion on them. If you talk to some of the painter guys like Mick Allen etc they will tell you the same. Also after you have spent a hell of a lot of money building your RV7 do you really want to have that nag...

Re: NOTAMS
Thanks for the info Colin, I confess to having eyes out on stalks when in the vicinity of gliders! A bit of a thread drift maybe but something I have been told is that gliders participating in competitions are told to turn off Flarm for some reason. Can you confirm if this is a normal modus operandi...

Re: Flying in France
I would agree that a LAPL medical seems to be the only way.
However probably being a bit pedantic here a LAPL licence and also a LAPL medical as far as I understand are not ICAO and therefore not valid internationally. i.e ok for Europe but nowhere else in the world.

Re: Steam Gauges to Glass Cockpit
Don't forget that since about 2011-12'ish the CAA now requires you to undergo 'Difference training' for glass cockpit instrumentation so worry not about any transition issues. It will soon become second nature the same as the six pack did.

Re: IMC in LAA?
This is a fantastic achievment and a superb result of course but I just wonder how great in the final analysis will be the demand and uptake. The vast majority of the LAA fleet just can't comply for various airframe reasons i.e wingloading etc. I then just wonder how many others in the fleet will in...

Amusing how 'duct tape' over the years has been transformed into 'duck tape'.

Re: REVISED SELF-DECLARED MEDICAL FORM ISSUED BY CAA
Could be interesting explaining to foreign CAAs that one doesn't have a medical certificate but could we fly into your territory? Or have I misinterpreted that clause? In that respect it is no different to the previous NPPL medical declaration. Microlight pilots will be able to fly to the (few) cou...

Re: MORE STOLEN ROTAX ENGINES
The TRackR sounds like a good idea until you read the blurb.....It requires another TRackR user to come within 100ft of it in order for it to notify you via GPS!....So I wonder how many they have sold in eastern europe?

Re: ICOM Radio
As I understand it the Icom A210 is not approved for use in the UK due to not being EU TSO'd. I have over the years asked the question of Icom UK Ltd when the unit would be approved and they have continually fobbed me off saying approval for the A210 was in the pipeline. I suppose it no longer reall...
