Transponders/ATCOCS why bother!

ATCOCS= Air Traffic control outside controlled airspace A couple of weekends ago I flew up to Breighton, usual route, via overhead Leicester, then follow the A46 towards Newton disused/Gamston etc. Went at 3000ft so as to be above any gliding sites and ATZs etc. But you have East Midlands control zo...

thats exactly the way I went to Sweden a few years ago. Midden Zeeland is fine. Of course you then have the additional dutch problem of supposed to have an ELT. And whatever the dutch are doing about mode S this year! Last I heard you can still get through with mode a/c or maybe even no transponder ...

I dont know about this mod, but "Dons Dream machines" builds C85s with O-200 crankshafts and maybe a few other changes, these are reported to give over 100hp and also be a cheaper rebuild than finding new C-85 parts. There are in Griffin,Georgia. A friend operates a couple of Cubs with this engine i...

wasnt there a court case several years ago when a group of Belgians owning French registered microlights took the government to court over preventing their freedom of movement? I think they won. A Belgian friend told me last week that many Belgian glider clubs hve now all registered their gliders in...

Id prefer everyone uses there real names, but if we stay a members only forum, then I cant really see why we couldnt allow "handles" or whatever you want to call them, if people really want them. However, as John says, the Board would need to change the rule. Brian has volunteered to ask the questio...

thanks for the link Rod. Its interesting to see that a big majority of those posting on pprune agree with the LAA rule for posting showing your real name. Some very good reasoning for it on pprune. Although a couple on there havent figured out you can use a pseudoname but put your real name at the b...

Mark,
thanks for the info. Are all of these new engines able to run on mogas with ethanol?? Or do you need 100LL? or even 91UL?
Im not in the market for one, but would imagine if they can run on mogas and make 200hp that would be a big selling point.

good luck!

This is great news, there are a few things that are unclear though, they are probably taken care of in a sensible way, but you never know! 1. the document doesnt mention homebuilt aircraft, these were already approved, presumably there is no change in that, I cant remember if there were any time res...

Midden Zeeland in Holland seems to be a reasonable place to clear customs into the Schenger area, or you could do it earlier at Calais going that way. Holland has a ridiculous regulation that all aircraft are supposed to carry a fixed ELT, but the dutch pilots say that as long as you mark it on your...

I wonder what happened to G-BRIO Turner T40, seems the permit expired in 2006, now owned by someone in the Brighton area. wonder if it was any good. There is a new Cherry flying in the midlands, another in Kent, quite a few in Switzerland I once saw 20 at a fly-in there. But as you say a long time t...

However, Im told that work is in progress to see if the total 91UL can indeed be approved for other lycoming engines, so I guess its watch this space!

Paul,
I think you missed something, as did quite a lot of others. The 96UL approved by Lycoming is the Swedish stuff, this Total 91UL is a different fuel with lower octane rating. I was hoping it might be approved for my 160hp O-320 too

Surely there are some experts here with the answer to this?
I believe you can fly in France on an NPPL (microlight) with the GP declaration, but not sure about other licences and other countries.
