I looked briefly into this. The standard engine driven pump won't flow if it dies, according to the VW car experts, so I stuck with gravity and a Facet 40105 which WILL flow fuel if it dies. (Usual Caveats here) I have my fuel tank vent in a high pressure area so that I get a small speed/pressure bo...

"LOOP" mag and Mode S
They write that Mode S will become mandatory next April. Have the plans changed without me noticing or is LOOP missing out some clauses?
I googled and found a CAA site with obviosly out-of-date info on it. Any links to current/accurate info?
Thanks.

Are there any recommendations for someone to approach to get the use of a taildragger plus a coach so that I can get tailwheel experience? Big tarmac runways (at £40-ish per landing) don't appeal so in an ideal world I'd like to get trained in a 2-seater on grass somewhere within driving distance of...

A good bet is to beg/borrow/steal a "Wideband Lambda Sensor" kit. I have one for analysing the fueling of modified cars and it is the most fantastic tool and highly accurate. It either fits into a boss drilled into an exhaust or sits in a pipe that you stuff up an exhaust. It gives an instataneous r...

FWIW, HS4 carbs weigh less than CD125s but Strombergs will work at most anges of bank/yaw/roll whilst SUs will suffer from float problems. Does anyone know what the story with HIF carbs is? Do they suffer from 'bank angle flooding'? An HIF44, on paper, looks like a good performance carb with an inbu...

I've heard it said that the crankcase is a 'lifed item' in the opinion of the engine designer and that 100,000 miles is the expected limit for a road car (inc 2 rebuilds). I've been to Brazil a few times where the engine is still in regular use and they said that the cases eventually crack and leak ...
