12v fuel pump and gascolator guidance

Can anyone point me toward the following information on the LAA website: 1. Guidance on requirements for fitting and wiring of a facet 12v fuel pump 2. Acceptable /non acceptable locations for fitting a gascolator (Aircraft is a Rans S6 tail dragger with a single fuselage fuel tank immediately behin...

Re: Airbox AWARE: cost to run

trevor, Robs example illustrates how SkyDemon meets his needs. However, it also meets yours in the same way that I've used it: £179 will get you the complete SD planning and navigational software for 12 months. Planning, NOTAMS, weather and navigation. Charts for UK, Europe and beyond and always up ...

Re: Lodge prop

As luck would have it, I've acquired a nice s/h Lodge prop. The prop came off a Murphy Maverick microlight. Andy draper suggested having a word with the CAA about issuing a noise certificate without a noise test. There is already an approved Lodge prop for the Rans S6, of very similar spec and the c...

Clive, Thanks for the reply, that explains why I was struggling to find anything.
Hercules look excellent, but I'm putting it on my rans S6 microlight and would have the additional burden of a noise test (£400).
So, it looks like it will be the GT prop for me.

I would ask paul Sistern www.partsforaircraft.co.uk
He is the UK agent, I believe, and very helpful. I'm sure he could help find examples for you.

Here goes, my tuppence worth; 1. Dead forums don't need a great deal of moderation ;-) 2. Flyer forum proves that anonymity can work as I socialise with one of the mods from there and have an understandinmg of how effective they are. There is lots of banter, but decorum reigns. 3. I have a rans S6 m...

John, thanks for explaining it to us mere mortals :-) I think it would be a real safety improvement if we can have a higher, common TA. There is real potential for unwittingly infringing at times, perhaps more so when you don't have the luxury of a second altimeter. To me, the biggest question revol...

The results speak for themselves. The BMAA forum is full of reports indicating a surge of interest in microlighting, including increased hits to various websites and bookings for trial lessons. Putting the obvious journalistic licence to one side, I enjoyed it and was reminded of the grass roots fun...

Absolutely delighted to see Chipmunks, Bulldogs and others join the fold.
A victory for common sense and, maybe, a precedent that the LAA might be able to exploit ?

With pre-sewn skins you should only need minimal use of the heat gun, purely for finishing. I agree that there is a risk, but the same would apply to an inaccurately calibrated iron. Good point about ribs, not an issue for the likes of me as the pre-sewn wing skins on the Rans S6 have pockets sewn i...

Interesting Jim, it is certainly common practice on aircraft with pre-sewn dacron skins. You do have to be careful, but the same applies to use of an iron.

Hi Bill, I have no actual experience of this but my understanding is that it can be shrunk using a hot air gun. Hopefull Bill Scott will see this and add his experience to your question. He did say though that it is best to leave a day or so after fully tightening as it will stretch and allow you t...
