This UK company does a range of light aircraft compasses and some models aren't lit at all:

Re: Belgium on a self declaration medical?

A friend enquired and the answer appears to be "no", a PMD is not valid for flight in the Belgian FIR.
However, will anyone check?
It is valid in France though...

Re: 50hr Check

Oil changes are the cheapest maintenance that you can carry out on your engine. Do it now! Regarding the other things that are done for your 50 hr check: Probably a good oil and lube all around Check for any mandatory inspections or Service Bulletins Look at last year's permit renewal work sheets to...

Re: Flying overseas

Dave White, who frequents the Flyer GA Forums, has a guide to flying to France.

I have a copy of his guide plus some recent updates.
I can e-mail them to you if you can't get them directly from Dave White.

Re: Spray systems

I recall that the Randolph silver butyrate is dull in appearance and certainly not "shiny". I think you do have some overspray and silver makes this more obvious. Even final coat coloured butyrate isn't that shiny like a two pack finish would be.. However, using T cut will give you a good shiny fini...

Re: Spray systems

If you are doing a lot of spraying it is good practice to build in a water trap/filter/ pressure regulator.
In our humid climate you get quite a bit of water out of a regular compressor.
Info on-line or I probably have a sketch of what I did somewhere.

Re: Spray systems

I used a traditional compressor but with a HVLP spray gun from Amazon (BERGEN Professional HVLP Gravity Fed Spray Gun 500ml Capacity 1.4mm Nozzle BER8742 ). Worked well for me but my advice is to go for good quality/professional guns. Some of the cheaper ones don't get on well with the solvents in b...

Re: Intercom wanted

Hi Rob, Not sure what you are referring to. The intercom is voice activated and just works! You only need to set up the "sensitivity" so it activates when pilot (or passenger) speaks. It is very easy to do from the Trig control unit. Or am I missing something? What is the "lack of names" all about? ...

Re: Intercom wanted

Rob,

I have a Trig TY91 in my aircraft and I find the intecom function to be excellent.
What issue do you have?
What make/model of headsets are you using?

Re: mystery magneto.

Jim,

I think the magneto is for a Hepu VW engine (whatever that is!)
I got this info from someone in France. Please look here for a picture:

Re: Electronic Conspicuity. LA article Dec 21

Mike, Those vector results are very good. Best range from you to ground station is nearly 60 Km. Mount your SE2 where I mentioned (top, stbd, location near wing root) and just fly towards the vector ground station, where ever that is. Then fly to the N, S, E and W of the ground station to build up g...

Re: Electronic Conspicuity. LA article Dec 21

Mike, Although I don't fly a Rans S6 I fly something similar (side by side, high wing, fabric covered. I have my SE2 mounted at the top, right hand, corner of the cabin attached to one of the diagonal fuselage tubes. That position has a good view forward and up. Was flying on Sunday and saw many air...

Re: Molex crimp pin

Hi Mark,

So did I!
The Trig TT31 uses Molex connectors as it was designed to functionally replace the popular KT76A, KT76C and KT78A, range of transponders.
Thanks for your kind offer but I think I now have the correct pin extractor tool - time will tell!

Molex crimp pin

I am installing a Trig TN72 GPS to as Trig TT31 transponder for a friend. I need to remove one Molex crimp from the TT31 connector and add one wire with a Molex crimp pin attached. Can anyone assist? Do you have a Molex extractor tool I can borrow for a few days, or know where to get one? Also do yo...
