Re: AME MEDICALS ABOLISHED.
The original intention with my post was to generate some discussion amongst us hobby pilots. Over the years I have held a PPL and as time has gone along I began to question the relevance of the medical. As the CAA have been arriving at the conclusion that the safety of pilots who pass CAA Medicals a...

Re: AME MEDICALS ABOLISHED.
As I read the CAA paper I understood that if you were fit to hold a driving license you were fit to hold a PPL. So unless it comes to be that your GP can dob you in to DVLA we should be able to fly on Happy Days.

MOGAS AND FORECOURT SALES
Can anybody offer any updates through the UK where Mogas Ethanol free can be purchased. Some months ago it was clear NO Ethanol free mogas was for sale West of Exeter. With the recent price drop for mogas to below £1 a litre compared to around 1.75 a litre for Avgas it becomes ever tempting to look ...

Re: Jodel detained at Plymouth
Can the LAA obtain a written statement and undertaking from Sutton Harbour Holdings that in the event of an emergency an aircraft will be welcome at Plymouth Airport. Sutton Harbour Holdings are a total disgrace as a company to have control over a city airport and its unforgivable to treat a person ...

Re: Jodel detained at Plymouth
Can the LAA Confirm that Sutton Harbour Holdings will uphold The Strasser Scheme should any pilot fly into poor weather in the future. Can they please ask for this to be published in the LAA Magazine. This is a priority as all pilots must be reassured if they run into difficulty they will not be pen...

Re: Jodel detained at Plymouth
This whole episode has caused the owner of the Jodel two weeks of extreme stress.
The Jodel owner has been a fine upstanding guy and has dealt with the whole situation in a most polite and respectful manner.
I wish to commend his outstanding manners and general decorum.

Re: Met Office new site
I too have tried to access the new met office aviation weather website and when I eventually signed on found the site poor and non user friendly. The current site works fine and I can source all the relevant information readily, I am surprised the met office are so backward that they are only just i...

Re: a65 and c90 engines and unleaded mogas
An interesting debate, we cannot purchase Mogas West of Exeter that is with at least 5% Ethanol. We await the deliberations from the LAA as with the price drop on Mogas recently down to 1.10 a litre in our local Texaco Garage and the ready supply it would be very helpful to at least use a mix of bot...

Re: Mogas
Many Thanks Jonathan that is most helpful. It can get confusing when the word Mogas is used but the word Ethanol is omitted. We cannot purchase any Mogas west of Exeter that does not contain at least 5% Ethanol. Hopefully soon the LAA will make an announcement and clarify the use of Mogas with Ethan...

Re: Mogas
Can we now assume if our aircraft is cleared for mogas we can also use mogas with ethanol in and still remain legal.
