Re: Alan James and his Spitfire - Radio 2 Thu 8.35

It's a 60% scale Spitfire of all wood construction and it made the Daily Telegraph yesterday. He thoroughly deserved to be the first winner of The Prince Michael of Kent Trophy for best aircraft at this year's Rally and he's a delightful chap to boot.

For those building a wooden aircraft, or contemplating doing so, B&Q have a speciall offer on compound angle saw bench on tubular legs - £130. It even has a dust collection bag.

Re: A vote of thanks to Brian Hope

Alan, Many thanks for your excellent post. I thoroughly enjoy the Rally and am most grateful to Brian, Ian, Nigel and Penny (yes, she does a great deal to make it all go so well). I also agree that we have a brilliant magazine and have told Brian so on a few occasions. As for the awards saga, I'm on...

Re: Grey Aviation

The reality is that flying is rather expensive and hence most pilots are in the age group where the kids have flown the nest. The LAA Educational Trust awards a flying scholarship when it has enough funds so if any of you want to encourage youngsters into aviation you could send in a few pounds. In ...

I also vote for a lightweight showerproof jacket to go in the aircraft. For me, Navy blue.

Paul,

You're making the assumption that she only got the award because it was thought she had flown solo.

To fly such a distance in the sometimes unpredictable weather and over so much inhospitable territory in a slow, open cockpit aircraft is still a significant endeavour.

Best wishes,

Light Aviation Magazine

Our house magazine just gets better and better. Congratulations Brian. IMHO 12 issues are worth most, if not all, an LAA member's subscription. if you agree, please tell your non-LAA aviation friends. If you don't keep your copy once you've read it, leave it in the doctor's or dentist's waiting room...

Gentlemen, I'm sure the CEO will read your comments when he returns from leave next week but clearlyit's too late for your desire for narrative comments for this survey. However, you still have 4 other ways of getting your message heard: 1. By putting them on this forum; 2. By emailing, or writing t...
