Student placement wanted
The son of my aerobatics instructor based in France is looking for a placement this summer as part of his college engineering course. This would be in an English speaking engineering concern, preferably involving motorcycles or aeroplanes. So if anyone has an opening for a keen, trilingual (French, ...

John, Thanks for organising this fly-in, my first visit to Tibenham and what a fine airfield it is. From the West people might have been put off flying on Sunday by the Bristol TAF that included PROB30 TEMPO 28G35KT and CBs. In the event the cloud from Gloucester was scattered and broken until St Ne...

On Sunday I flew into Redhill and was met on shutdown by 3 officers of the Surrey police who were on anti-terrorist duty. They asked me for ID but as I was not carrying anything official they asked me name, address, point of departure etc that I presume someone is verifying this week. One of the off...

Permit renewal lead time
Does anyone know how far in advance of the permit renewal date I can do the annual inspection and maintenance and where this is referenced? Probably an old topic but I have searched this bulletin board and the web site without success.
Thanks, Alan.
Thanks, Alan.

Clive, Try this page: www.aaib.gov.uk/guidance_and_regulations/index.cfm It has a link to the Civil Aviation (Investigation of Air Accidents and Incidents) Regulations 1996 that defines an "accident" that needs to be reported. Alan. P.S. given the mention of "mandatory occurrence reports" to the CAA...

Hi Aviologist, Yes I did some flying with French aeroclubs in the Toulouse area whilst working for Airbus. Thanks for this. First off I will get a copy of the Englert book, see what I understand and then get back to you. I did record the altitude and pressure setting. Also speed by ASI and GPS groundspeed. However I estimated the temperature. We have an OAT sensor for the Dynon waiting to be installed, t...

Airframe performance
I took our aeroplane out to see how fast it would fly. At the altitude I chose the engine rpm was at the redline at full throttle and I achieved a certain airspeed. This was on an ISA +7 deg C day. Does anybody know a method to estimate what the airspeed would be on an ISA day ? The engine cannot pr...

We have an RV4 with a Lycoming O-320, not much room between engine and firewall, and have fitted an oil filter with 90 degree adapter and spacer. It is easy to change the filter and all seems well-engineered. Unfortunately I do not have the paperwork at home but can find out the manufacturer when I ...

I am disappointed that this thread is so popular, we are discussing this subject interminably for the second time. Meanwhile, probably in the Czech republic, someone is designing the next generation of high performance, efficient light aircraft; whilst the UK falls ever further behind. I had hoped t...
