Royal patronage is a great asset. Recognized by all in authority in the establishment and something that small organisations etc could never afford if we lived in any other country.

Maybe I am not typical, but I see SSDR as an inexpensive, hassle-free means of flying, which rules out even spending £10K on a kit. I want a plans built, and by and large many of those posting on here seem to be of a similar mind. Spot on for me with the addition of the word simple to the phrase "p...

Hi Gary, As a member of both LAA and BMAA I can understand your concerns re clashing with Blois however I guess that any date in the prime flying season will clash with other events and am pleased that the September dates balance the many major UK events earlier in the year. If this clash continues ...

Pleased about the latter but a little surprised at the former as the Aware story shows that the right tool at the right price has a market.

Why was such a safety benefit dropped ?

Mode S transponder

I seem to recall that a while ago when the CAA/NATS where pushing for mandatory mode S (sooner rather than whatever) there was mention of a lightweight and perhaps most importantly low cost transponder that would ease the burden on us. Does anyone know what happened to this ? I hope it was not "smok...

Colins info is good and you might do well to also have a look at the Flitzer site to seek info on wood. There are a couple of US sources that I have used such as A/C Spruce and Spec. , dependant on exchange rate and shipping though. The Minimax is probably a good example of lightweight construction,...

It is becoming so difficult to ensure that all bases are covered I do wonder how many will cease to try to conform even if they are aware of the existence of the maze let alone the way through it and just fly.

Free access to European airspace is to be welcomed, however it is a great pity that the CAA does not allow free access to UK airspace to all.

Spoken to a few people who wanted to fly in but could not get a slot, just wondered how many slots were wasted, number of slots issued as to number of arrivals would be interesting. Had a good day more so with the good weather, but was disappointed to here people arguing when going airside because ...

Tremendous, absolutely nothing to fault.

The Sywell staff and all volunteers were magnificent and I must mention the barfolk and waiters who were cheerful and helpful from breakfast to v late.

The Oompah band was the best musical entertainment I've seen at such a do.

Thankyou everyone.

EASA permits ?

AIRCOM 2010/11: Guidance for Owners and Potential Owners of Light Sport Aircraft just released

This seems to indicate that current national permit routes will apply for maintenance etc.
Does this mean the LAA one or the CAA one?
