Re: VW Run-in Schedule

..... do you ever wish you hadn’t asked a question??? :-) Phil Au contraire Monsieur Pipster ... :D I reckon that your question has probably sparked a degree of interest . I would love to know how many guys there are around who still actively extol the virtues of these brilliant little engines . Pr...

A Sonerai... 8) ...Note to Brian : We'd better see that in the magazine at some time then ... :D When I built the thoroughbred racing machine in the top RH of the page [ :D ] I pretty much zero-timed the engine by replacing virtually every moving part . Including the camshaft and followers . Barry S...

Maurice Kirk. Not everyones cup of tea especially those with any authority which has got him in to a lot of trouble. Firstly , apologies for the thread drift . But I have to admit to having a somewhat concealed admiration for this old boy . His achievements have actually been quite incredible ,,,,,...

Nic .. :D

I think you'll find that Mike was referring to ' The Flying Veterinary' when he mentioned the Piper Cub .

Golly , who would've thought his name would crop up on a thread with this title .....

Re: Bill Woodhams Trophy

Above all else, I hope that as an Association we can celebrate our members' achievements So right Brian . Being just an ordinary rank & file member and also a fully paid-up bread & butter flyer , I can only admire the other ordinary folk who've gone out and done very , very extraordinary things . W...

Re: Bill Woodhams Trophy

I guess your story Chris and many others is what the LAA is and the old PFA was about. Definitely !... :D ..And my story isn't unique by any means . I know for a fact that many peoples building/flying experiences make fascinating reading/listening . It is only thanks to the PFA/LAA that we're able ...

Re: Bill Woodhams Trophy

The Evans VP1 is certainly not a comfortable aircraft. Seen one sell recently on AFORS for just £3.5k. Quite true Mike , they have very little residual value . But for me that doesn't really enter the equation . The 'value' in mine is that it has given me a whole life experience . Which began in th...

Re: Bill Woodhams Trophy

I believe that Bill Woodhams mostly flew a Comper Swift . Considering that the forward vision in those was errmmm,,,somewhat negligible is probably the reason that the old boy became a bit of a dab hand with his chart . must be interesting in a VP1 :D Actually Mike . It's more like nigh on bloody im...

British adventurer and Scouting Ambassador and serial adventurer. Not Sure Hhmmm. Mike , not sure what the implication of your post is . Yeah , howz about naming it ; The Ernest Saunders Trophy .

It could be awarded to the person who has notched up the most aviation achievements in a year .

Re: Bill Woodhams Trophy

I fully agree with Mike that JK's aviation achievements should be recognised , and I'm sure that they will be . Hopefully , not just by the LAA , but also by the other bodies of the great and the good . But I feel that we should perhaps allow the LAA to give recognition and acknowledgement to this a...
