Re: Bill Woodhams Trophy

Mike .
There is a list of 2019 awards winners linked to this website's homepage.

It doesn't appear that the BW Award was made to anyone this year . It may of course be possible that James Ketchell is not an LAA member .

But certainly 'one to be proud of ', if he is .

Re: LAA x BMAA

Well ,,,I take it that most LAA'ers are happy then . :D It certainly gets my vote . We all know from the e-mail notification what the situation is and even the thread on the red/yellow forum seemed in agreement with the merger . [ no fur flying , that's gotta be a 1st  ] Hopefully , our brother...

Re: After the Rally

I cringe if I hear such words. Absolutely right there mate . And nobody would say that in seriousness either . But the very fact that you could have used those awful words , and been quite justified in doing so , shows that the matter needs addressing . Do you reckon it's a bit of yellow hi-viz tab...

interviewing owner Mike Fowler because he had won Best Vintage, and was told to move. Brian : Of all the attendees at the rally , you , of all people are surely one of the most recognisable . ,,,,,,,,,,,and could have quite justifiably put the jobsworths in their places by reminding them ; "Don't y...

Re: Clutton FRED running costs?

So Brian ,, may one assume that FRED ownership is shortly to become a reality for you ? If that is the case , then I'm sure that the other posters here [incl. myself] will be keen to follow your progress with it . Regarding trailers : I'm afraid I cannot be much help here . I just took the easy way ...

Re: permit renewal cost

it wouldn't work on my android tablet either! Rich Maybe what has been said here backs up Bob Dawson's point in his other post on Hangar-Chat . I have tried renewing my annual subscription on-line [twice] and ended up using 'the blower'. LA mag is my usual source for PtF renewal fees . Oh and Rich ...

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and considering the somewhat topical carbon-monoxide issue . I'm sure that all the contributors to this excellent discussion have checked their cockpit CO indicators ? Footnote : Whilst it is realised that a very serious and sad incident initiated this , I do feel 'smugly exempt' ...

All that ski-ing , cycling , rowing , trekking , messing about in gyrocopters .....

About time that lad got 'imself a proper bloody job . :D

But in all seriousness , may one assume that James is an LAA member ? He is a great ambassador if he is . 8) 8)

Re: Clutton FRED running costs?

Mono is a jump in and go sort of plane, not so comfortable these days as pointed out but great fun. Not sure the Fred would be as flyable. OK Mike , that could be a valid point actually . I have also had the odd joker poking fun at me whilst wriggling out of G-EVPI's cockpit . I normally tell 'em t...

Re: Clutton FRED running costs?

I think Mike is referring to Chris Lodge's lovely little Taylor Mono , G-AYSH . Which Chris built in 1971. A regular attendee at 'my' airfields fly-in and a real beaut in her green livery and D-Day stripes. For a 'new boy' like me , it is a true honour to be able to metaphorically rub shoulders on h...

Re: Clutton FRED running costs?

but would you really want a FRED  Mike old chap.. :D Isn't that a bit of a generalisation ? Aeroplanes of that generation probably are a bit 'organic' . i.e. All slightly different , despite all having originated from their own respective sets of drawings . Many Luton Minors , VP-1's , Taylo...

Re: Clutton FRED running costs?

@Brian , Hopefully , FRED's seller is just away on holiday at the moment . How galling about that dear little red/yellow D9 though . Just through the unpreparedness of the pilot . VW's are normally pretty friendly when being 'hand-propped' . Mine is certainly very docile , I'm lucky enough to be abl...

Re: Clutton FRED running costs?

I had a share in a Jodel D9 for several years (White Waltham's Noddy) Nice one Brian .. :D 'Noddy' has been around for years , seems almost as long as Enid Blyton's character . If you are already comfortable with classic/wood/fabric/VW type aeroplanes , then a FRED should pose no problems at all . ...
