Re: Keeping Current
A Lapsed LAPL is not a major headache for someone who has been flying fairly regularly. The rules about keeping your LAPL licence current, and what to do if you don’t meet the requirements are: As most people realise, the"rolling validity" privileges of your licence remain valid if you have complete...

Re: National Licensing and Medical Exemptions expire on Wednesday 8 April 2020
I just had a long conversation with the CAA FCL regarding this problem. To repeat: UK citizen UK national licence UK "G" registration aircraft with a UK CAA Certificate of Airworthiness Flying in the UK To the CAA: Q. What is illegal about the above? A. It is a matter of "Policy" and I would have to...

Re: National Licensing and Medical Exemptions expire on Wednesday 8 April 2020
Having a student who just completed his NPPL(M) to NPPL(SSEA) a couple of weeks ago it is a big hit to find out that he will not now be able to fly the PA28 owned by his father that he converted on. His NPPL(SSEA) licence is in the process of being issued by the Ivory Tower. He would have no problem...

Re: FIBERGLASS SPATS
Many moons ago when I used to own my CriCri I damaged one of the engine cowlings when the "start" rope toggle got stuck round the pulley and smashed off the whole back end of the cowling. I located a local "go-cart" racing outfit who were always having to mend broken fairings. They did a great job f...

Re: BTW. Is Natonal rational (your sentence!) - I have no idea, I am just inheriting the LAA wording! Re: IMHO? This may sound stupid but I am not a "Forum", "Facebook", "Twitter" person at all and these modern expressions are relatively new to me - what is IMHO? Perhaps I need Coaching . . . ? I am...

Re: New website
The "Training" topic on the Forum states: "LAA have organised Training Days for our members. If you are interested, please register with HQ. See our website section Training for more information". As far as I can see, there is no "Training" section on the web site. Please could this be changed to re...

National Coach change
Please note that effective immediately I have taken over from Will Greenwood as National Coach. I would like to thank him for all the work done over the last ten years and hope to be able to work with David Cockburn and assist with Coaching enquiries in the future. My contact details are: Chris Thom...

Re: Insurance recommendations?
Can thoroughly recommend Visicover. They use all the same loss adjusters etc. and the premiums are much cheaper than Traffords / Haywards - and YES, they do pay out promptly if there is a claim!

Re: Visicover
I personally know one of the directors. Their quotes are excellent and they use the same loss adjusters etc. as the big companies. They undercut the big process by being solely Internet based with an excellent web site allowing you to tailor exactly what you want, revise the quote over and over agai...

Re: Kitfox ferry flight
Having made numerous ferry flights, I would be happy to discuss this off line from this forum ( I hate typing ) if you wish. As mentioned by other folk, the weather at this time of year can be a real nuisance but with numerous hops and allowing time to spare it should be possible. For initial planni...

Re: LAPL & EASA PPL
A bit puzzled by the last statement ( . . . not allowed to have more than one licence etc.). I have a full US licence, a JAR (now deemed to be EASA) licence, a UK lifetime licence, and a Hungarian licence all of which allow me to currently fly almost anything at the moment (or at least until April 2...

Re: English Language proficiency assessment at Flying Show
Just found out that a friend of mine (who has full CAA "Examiner" privileges and is fully English by descent) and is the CFI of a CAA flight school in Spain has now telephoned the CAA and found that he is only a "level 4" on their database. Interestingly enough he has been examining people for many ...
