Robin aircraft.
The latest press report on the CEPR [APEX] website suggests agreements are "on short final" for resumption of Robin spares delivery. But does anyone have an update on the Type Certificate situation? Robins appear to be in limbo, with no renewal of C of A and/or Permit until a type certificate holder...

VW engine cam wear.
Interesting article in March mag, on cam wear in VW engines leading to on-going power loss. While some wear is inevitable in old engines, I wonder if use of the wrong oil might be a cause? Limbach are emphatic about oils, they warn of dire consequences if aircraft oils are used in their engines. Onl...

Limbach L2000 dualmag engine query.
Just a query. Does anyone know how the two mags are driven on Limbach engines? Standard VW conversions often use a triangular chain drive for the mags, but there is no sign of this on my engine. It looks like a gear drive to the two mags, plus a location for a vacuum pump, all covered by a casing on...

Exit from an inverted low wing aeroplane.
Re: Neil Spooner ending up inverted in his Nipper. Many low wing aeroplanes have an upward opening canopy, which will prevent exit if inverted. Just how difficult is it to smash a lexan or perspex canopy if you need to get out of a crashed aircraft rapidly? Oh and what sort of implement/tool do you ...

Robins on Annex ll
There is now a strong possibility that the whole Robin fleet of aircraft will made orphans by EASA early in the New Year. They will go on to permits instead of C of A.

Not really, the LAA article gives a good account of the aeroplane, to whet our appetites. But the original Pilotes account takes in the arrival at the concept, the aerodynamics, the choice of materials, the selection and modification of the engine, the flight testing, and much else over 30 pages. Se...

La Luciole new French aircraft.
La Luciole is a remarkable single seater powered by a Briggs & Stratton lawnmower engine. [And possibly soon an electric motor] The detailed description of the concept and the construction can be found in "Pilotes" mag edition no 5 of Juillet-Aout 2007. This can be ordered from the back-copy section...
