Ian, how disappointing for you but no, I really cannot take responsibility for that.
I have my despatch note from LAS and I expect the covers will be with me tomorrow for LAS are always surprisingly quick.

Re: Icom A6E
Chris, no steely-eyed killer here but my cockpit is enclosed. There's no rush for me, the Delcom still works and its about as simple as you can get with a transceiver, thumbwheels and slide switches not LCD displays and endless menus and if it will last me until the end of 2017 that'll be fine. It'l...

Re: Icom A6E
Interesting thread. My old Delcom is sensitive to input voltage and won't transmit if connected to an external battery and is, in any case, rather showing its age so I've been thinking about one of these Icoms as replacement. I have wondered about the dry cell/rechargeable options, the Sport versus ...

Ian, many thanks, that works. I'd not thought of going about it in that way.

Re: Inspection cover sought
Yes, John, that's what I mean. I did look in the LAS website and I found the page you link to but the items listed there don't have pictures and their descriptions don't gel with what I need. They are all described as being of plastic. I'll give them a call after the bank holiday and see what they c...

Inspection cover sought
I'm looking for a source of these slightly domed aluminium, snap-in inspection covers. You know the things. They're about 12cm diameter with a springy strap riveted across the rear.
Any recommendations on where to buy them?

Re: Red tape: Hi-vis and PPR by telephone
C Rule, I do too. I mean, they're an airfield for goodness sake, it's what they do. That said, I have on occasion turned up in the vicinity and first contact has been by radio asking to land and have never actually been refused or had any sort of problem at all. So maybe the PPR stated in the flight...

Re: Red tape: Hi-vis and PPR by telephone
...but insulting some poor chap simply doing his job... Complain to the airfield hierarchy that decides to inflict us with these silly rules... Ah, well now, that does rather assume that he or she is actually doing their job and not wilfully imposing some self arrogated personal prohibition just to...

Re: NORTHERN AVIATORS ISLE OF MULL FLY OUT VIDEO
Thanks Bob, that works fine.
Nice video and you had a good day/weekend for it. Mull can be lovely...or the weather can be awful.

Re: VW pulled stud
Having spoken to Barry Smith you will now know that the torque for M10 studs is 23 ft/lbs and that for M8 is 18 ft/lbs. If you're interested my own experience is described here with a couple of photos and my broken stud is now in the LAA 'Black museum'. http://sbeaver.com/cgi-bin/fournier/cutecast.p...

Re: VW pulled stud
Out of interest are your studs M8 or M10 and what torque did you apply?
I haven't pulled a stud out of the crankcase but I have broken one.

Re: C90 problem
My friends who fly behind C90's tell me they are pigs for carb ice at idle and they're usually pretty sharp at getting the carb heat on after starting. Don't know if that's what you're getting and if your's has just begun exhibiting the effect, probably not. I'm not familiar with the carb on these e...

Re: Operation of Transponders
Making the use of a transponder (where fitted) mandatory makes no sense to me when making use of a radio (where fitted) is not mandatory. OK, in certain classes of airspace radio contact is equired but you get my point. And what happens when we get L.A.S.T. or L.P.S.T. devices which will be the only...
