I think I need to try another interjection here, the debate is, after all, getting more entertaining and I like to have my tuppence-worth... I find myself still agreeing with Chris on this one. One aspect that does not seem to be understood by the bulk of the membership is the certification issues a...

Gents etc. I think Chris's post is one of the more insightful that I've seen on this topic. As some northern git once said 'there's owt for nowt'. Brian's points are also valid and so we have to keep both views in mind. My angle on it goes something like this. Asking if we'd like to be able to fly a...

Hi Hubert The weather gods were mostly bkind to us this year. 19 hours of flying over four days with 12 new continental aerodromes visited (including one with a 2km long grass runway!). Many thanks for the excellent organization and venue and with over 20 aircraft at the fly-in, lots of interesting ...

Hi Alan Understand your enthusiasm, as Graham says, I also own a Jodel (1050) and have owned a C90 powered D11 so I do have a soft spot for the marque. What I would hate to see, though, is any over-enthusiasm risk putting Steve into a hedge. Fully loaded and in nil-wind you might(!), just, get the w...

Whilst Jodels are great touring aeroplanes and decent farm-strip machines they are not that good in terms of short field operations. Unless your 300m usable is flat, firm and with no hedges at either end (USS Nimitz maybe) then I would counsel caution about Jodels. In a fair breeze, one -up and with...

I've been on Hubert's little jaunts for the last three years now. They are based about 30nm NW of Berlin and usually end up somewhere interesting such as Berlin Tempelhof, Peenemunde, Stolln (where Lillenthal made his first test flights, maybe the oldest aerodrome in the world). This year takes us t...

'... I called a couple of times and couldn't get hold of an engineer...' rant, dribble, bark. Is that really something to launch a public whinge about? As others have said, we've got excellent engineers at Turweston who could, no doubt, earn more money elsewhwere. They are overseeing the airworthine...
