Re: Jodel control stick layout

Thanks, Ian and Alan, for your comments. Does the stick pivot at the bottom for pitch or does it slide fore and aft without changing angle? If either of you could post a few photos or a video clip of the control stick and linkage, that would be a big help. Cheers, Matthew

Re: What happened to all the Freds?

Sorry I missed this, but there are still FREDs being built and restored around the world including in the UK. I try to keep the site http://cluttonfred.info/ and FB page https://www.facebook.com/cluttonfred/ updated with the latest news. Here's some progress from Guy Smith in Devon... Bringing G-BMS...

Jodel control stick layout

Hi, I like Jodels in theory but have never flown one. The two-seaters I have seen use an odd control stick geometry pivoted along the centerline with a U-shaped stick providing the left and right grips. In other words, the pilot's grip goes up as it goes right and down as it goes left and the copilo...

Accent? What accent? ;-)

I am glad you like the site, but then again I'm biased. See my revised signature below.

Yes, I believe that flight is the goal for the restoration project, not sure about the unfinished build.

Kids building/restoring two Clutton FREDs in Cornwall

For folks that don't follow the Clutton FRED site or FB page.... Re: Paperwork required for LAA aircraft purchase?

Thanks, all. The process turned out to be a little more complicated in some ways and simpler in others as my nationality and country of residency meant that Clutton FRED G-BMSL could not stay on the UK register once in my name. So FRED is already deregistered (shhh, don't tell him) and in storage in...

Re: Small hangar/storage space in East of England?

Thanks, all, for the messages. I believe that I have found a home for my newly-purchased Clutton FRED G-BMSL at Nayland Airfield in Suffolk. Thanks Andy and Tony for your help!

Insurance recommendations?

I am embarking on my first airplane purchase, a single-seat amateur-built on an LAA Permit to Flgy, and am wondering about insurance requirements and providers. What do I need to have legally in terms of coverage? Are there any "official LAA" insurance providers or any that have a good track record ...

Re: Paperwork required for LAA aircraft purchase?

Thanks, Chris. I know the plane, not surprisingly a Clutton FRED, and it is current and permit valid on the CAA and LAA rolls, for sale only because the current owner has completed another homebuilt plane. That chap with the Austin Seven used to own this exact one, as a matter of fact, and we are in...

Paperwork required for LAA aircraft purchase?

Hi, I have decided to take the plunge and purchase a small, single-seat, amateur-built airplane in Engand, but I have never actually owned a plane before and don't know where to start. To complicate matters further, I am currently outside the UK and so need to do all the administrative steps via lon...

Small hangar/storage space in East of England?

Fellow LAA members, help! I am seeking to become the proud owner of my first airplane, a homebuilt, with one little hiccup--it's in England and I am currently in Kenya. So I am looking for affordable, safe storage for a small, single-seat homebuilt with folding wings (I bet you can guess the type) f...

Wanted: Original Volksplane VP-2 plans

I am thinking of tackling a VP-2 project but would like an authentic, original set of plans. I have the plans electronically already, I just want to make sure to have all my administrative ducks in a row. If you've got a set you'd be willing to part with, please contact me directly. Cheers, Matthew
