To be correct, those who pay by DD pay £4 less. I also choose not to and accept that I wont therefore get the discount. It is no different to many domestic utility providers wh offer discounts for DD, it cuts down their paperwork so they offer a sweetener. Personal choice whether you take it.

Joke

Don't know where the humour thread is so here's one that came through on a text today. It had me smiling all day!

A journalist asked a neighbour how long he had known the Frittzle's daughter Alice. "Alice?" he replied, "Who the f**k is Alice. For 24 years I've been living next door to Alice?

Mike, the poll asked 'Would you like there to be a Virtual Strut'. I voted yes because I can see some merit in it for those who maybe have no access to an established Strut. That does not mean that I particualarly wish to be involved in the setting up and running of the Strut, I am a committee membe...

Peter, you are perfectly at liberty to propose your ideas as motions for rule changes at the AGM. The procedure for doing so will appear shortly in the magazine.

Ken Craigie coming to Mid Kent

LAA Chief Inspector, Ken Craigie will be our guest speaker this month. Our meeting is this coming Thursday (24th) at Cobtree Manor Golf Club on Bluebell Hill, between Rochester and Maidstone (on the Maid to Roch side of the dual carriageway just after crossing the M20 motorway). Start time is 8:00 p...

And people say I'm a sarky b******d! I have agreed that a debate of sorts is possible in the mag but it does have its limitations. If we take a particularly divisive topic, I think there was one on here recently, am I to publish every single letter and view that I receive on it? Maybe take twenty pa...

Eyesoar, the LAA is not a limited company. The association's finances are handled by PFA Ulair ltd, but the association itself is a separate entity. The main flaw with proxy votes is that you cast your vote before you have heard the debate, and a compelling argument might well have sayed your view h...

Were the Comet on a German CofA you could keep it in the UK, but it is a kitbuilt so you will be unable to keep it here long term. The rules have changed a bit, but I think you now have to tell CAA when the aircraft will be in the UK, and you only have 28 days per year as a right. More than that and...

Hi Steve, the clash with St Omer has been unfortunate, but funnily enough my flight from Hucknall to St Omer last year goes down as one of the most memorable of the year for me. This year I'm pretty sure they wont be clahing, though I do agree we should have the AGM farther into the off season, rath...

Gentlemen, you elect an EC to run the Association, can you really believe that every issue should be 'passed by the members' before a decision is taken? When policy decisions are being considered they are often discussed at NC level, where feedback is received, and do not forget that EC members are ...

I really would like to live in this world where everybody is warm and cuddly, there are no rules because everybody has a heart of gold and does the 'right' thing, there are no policemen because there are no laws, no need for laws of course because everybody is so good. Where do I join? Reality guys ...

Cirrus, this argument has been mentioned before, as though it is LAA's fault or problem. Truth is the airworthiness situation of your aircraft has been changed by the CAA and you will likely get the opportunity to go to an LAA permit, or a CAA permit. Your co-owners are part of that decision making ...

You must have been at a different Popham to me then Mike, I had no problem getting in and it was all very well ordered. A four mile final is likely to be a pain if you have particularly slow microlights, faster ones won't have an issue as they can just keep their speed up until late on the approach,...
