Re: Flying in Germany and Austria with permit aircraft

I’ve bitten the bullet and asked the contakt on the Austrocontrol website to confirm we still meet the terms of the exemption. Unfortunately Germany require, what is a quite simple submission, an application which was approved and returned within a day. See the website on the Flyer Forum for who to ...

Re: Manchester Low Level Route blocked out on new 1/2 Mil

It was nice and clear but some map bojo knows best. One thing to watch out for, the new rules associated with the low level route mean you must squark the listening squark at all times and listen at all times that you are in it. Unlike other FMC’s where you 7000 if you stop listening inside the LLC ...

Re: Jabiru Starter Motor origin.

There are two types. Neither better than the other if you get a good one. Most of the Jabiru chat/expertise is on the IO groups, if you post on there there will be loads of folk who know about the starters.

Re: Rally thoughts

Great event, thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks to all involved at the LAA and Sywell and those that help set it up and tear it all down. Enjoyed watching and listening to the radio and the arrival stream. The orbit I saw on Final was the only bad thing I think I saw (you know who you are, very dangerous...

Re: Rally question

I plan to fly over Thursday morning as usual and help with the set up. I see they are now PPR by e mail at normal times, I believe that Jeff and the team are no longer there and it’s call position on the freq, though that may have changed. I may book a slot for 1400 so I can pay online even though I...

Re: Battery article Jun 21 LA Magazine

My take is it’s a technology that has its place and can help with certain problems but may create others. I know of two people who tried one, one in an aircraft for no particular reason that it was neat technology, there was a weight/size bonus but in the end the battery was failing to start the eng...

Re: LAA amateur built aircraft flying to France post Brexit

So I just had a swatch at my PMD and it says: Geographical Limitations This declaration is not recognised internationally as an International Civil Aviation Organization medical certificate. You may not use it to fly outside of the UK, unless you have obtained advanced permission from the relevant a...

Just in case anyone missed it on the other thread, a UK LAPL or NPPL SSEA and a PMD are valid to fly both homebuilt and certain 'historic' aircraft in France.
Assuming this one:

I have had confirmation from the DGAC that a PMD is valid to fly a homebuilt in France.
Donald, could you copy that to us on here? Might be handy.

FUNKE Transponder Upgrade

After several years of waiting FUNKE are ready to make upgrades to their Transponders. I believe this will meet the required SIL level to be more recognised by other aircraft EC systems. EDITED: I've just been reading on the PAW forum about the ETSO approval being an issue with the LAA and I believe...

Re: Where have all the aircraft gone?!

Surely it’s the end of the summer, approaching winter that folk sell? Why have an aircraft in a hangar all winter only to sell it in the spring. If you have kept an aircraft though the winter and like now, not flown much, you want to get out and batter round now for a few months at least. Probably a...
