That's my local field, so doubly bad news. Will keep a look-out

Is there any background to this incident that you can share - was the engine removed from the plane? (I fear so)

Hey Eurofighter - how come the Forum Master lets you get away with that name? (or maybe that is your name!) I had no problems with a permit plane (home built) in Europe. I think Belgium want you to fill in special paperwork, but I think I was in the minority of people that actually bother. Costs aro...

Who holds the vector data for the CAA 1/4 mil and 1/2 mil charts?

NATS?

Now, that's worth running on a moving map device

Jon There are some important features to include before we can answer this: 1) It must have a big bright sunlight-readable display 2) It must be dead easy to update the maps 3) Its got to work on batteries and/or panel power 4) Its got to be quite a lot better, cheaper, or faster than MemoryMap 5) F...

Nice site.

Is there any way in which this, or indeed any, on-line system could use real CAA map images?

'Specially the 250K maps that another thread has suggested are better than 1/2 Mil

Now, that would be impressive.

Someone I know said to me that using Mode S and talking to London Information saved them from an infringment in Wales last week. The transponder is now their firm friend, as are the radar controllers they were speaking to. Reasons for the potential problem? Over-complicated class A airspace and the ...

It is usually possible to arrange your wiring so there are no connections, other than at the plugs and sockets themselves. That is to say, the best way of connecting screened cables is not to have any breaks in the first place.

Looking at the number of replies and posting dates in this section of the BB, I'd suggest you re-post something in the 'Hanger Chat' section if John permits.

That is very interesting - if I wanted to 'educate' my examiner, could you point out any official documentation I could use?

Thanks a lot if you can, you'll have saved me 100's of quids.

Just to stop thread drift....

So, it seems Brian was on the right lines. The sort of permission your insurance company can't complain about when make a claim when your nose gear falls down that rabbit hole in Brittany does not really exist.

I guess it is better to know.

Alan and Will Yes, I was advised about the issues around NPPL/PPL by my school. I even had the benefit of a personal interview with the PFA Chief Exec at the time (Graham). He guessed the European LPL thing might be happening about now... As it so happens, I passed my JAR medical last week, and all ...

Yes, I am aware of the official channel discussions. But I am not expecting quick results, I know how these things can go.

I'm coming to the conclusion that formal personal NPPL(SSEA) permission to fly in France does not happen. JAR PPL might be my next move.

I think there is a big difference between getting flight controller granted permission (such as you would get from Lille, or even Le Toquet etc), and the sort of permission you would get from DGAC. DGAC is where I am targetting. My acknowledged request has been in for a week now, they are either thi...

I have to say I have found both engineering and admin excellent recently.

I wrote to tell them (I wasn't sure putting it on here is quite the done thing...)
