As far as the law is concerned, a very eminent litigation solicitor once told me that in English civil law there was never any black and white, only shades of grey. Experience has shown me that statement is often very true. For any opinion from a barrister supported with case law, there will almost...

I can see that the future of the organisation can only get better, and that it could easily take over many of the functions of the CAA over time - this is a great opportunity and a huge challenge. Don't shirk it.... I wish the LAA well but there are come caveats on that particular one. There are qu...

It is not the first time that some LAA members close to the fire find it necessary to slag off fellow representative bodies in GA. That is just very sad and does nothing to promote either the LAA or give those we are dealing with the impression that we are professional amateurs who are worthwhile di...

I prefer to post under my real name but each to his own. The suggestion that LAA is at risk from what's posted here is laughable. If they promptly remove stuff that is defamatory when it is brought to their attention by a complainant there is no problem. If they are worried by this they should seek...

Steve

It is about the future of the association so although cost has to be managed some money will have to be set aside for this issue.

Posting costs can be mitigated against by including the form with an issue of the magazine.

Brian, I think you are correct in that most people mean postal rather than proxy voting. Whatever is decided as the way forward in this matter it is important that the membership is canvassed over the potential merger of the 2 associations. In my view that would be best done by using the communicati...

I would hope it changes before the merger; a few people would be pretty upset if they could not have their say on this important matter other than by having to turn up for an AGM/EGM.

There was a consultation on this by the CAA; outcome was 'no change'

That was for CofA machines.

As far as I know you can not fly/keep a permit aeroplane on the N in the UK.

Chris,

Thanks for taking this up and trying to sort it out.

It is good that there are some people in the LAA who are willing to listen to members raising valid concerns rather than the navel gazing which some on this BB seem to excel in.

Changing the Rules to the detriment of current LAA members is also counterproductive. Mike that is exactly what has happened by the implementation of this rule!! In a multiowner group you only need ONE dissenter and the whole of the group who are PAID UP LAA MEMBERS will not be be to fly their LAA ...

Cheers John, hope you didn't mind. Fair few changes proposed so thought this needs as wide an airing as possible. On the Flyer Forum I said that my main objection was the complexity of the shape and size of the airspace proposals. Which I said was a result of the of NATS policy, someone said that wa...

Consultation regarding London TMA extension

In April's magazine an article by John Brady about the proposals by NATS to extend the London TMA north. It is the area to the North and Northeast of Cambridge/Stansted which is affected, in part down to 3500ft. Further information on the consultation can be found here And the information for Aviati...

Peter, Welcome to the club. As to introducing myself, I’m the ‘BGA’ Peter Harvey and still on the BGA exec. About 3000 hours hang gliding, mostly international competitions, 2500 hours gliding (again mostly competition – two more events this year), 80 hours microlites, 100 hours PPL(A), even 50 hour...
