Re: An urgent message to bored, aviation-minded, kids, parents and grandparents!

Well Ch,Ch.,

That would then be a leading requirement as 'plane indicates a wing, whereas i read the invitation to mean summat wot flies, but the ''how'' might bring forth some great new concept.

As in :- "Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings...."

Re: Why do so many VP-1's fall into disuse?

OTOH Chris, In the midst of a lengthy detailed Rans Annual Permit schedule, HMG have peruaded me it's anti-social to go out to do non real work away from home, particularly as at over 80 I'm supposedly "at risk". Thus that pleasurable therapeutic exercise has been put on hold. However that beautiful...

Re: Keeping Current

Thank you,

Mine's an old last Century UK PPL, assume ditto applies & will now renew this Summer or Autumn if we are allowed to have two in the plane. Today's Gov. bulletin predicts a much longer period of non contact. We'll have to take it as it comes !

Regards, mike.

Re: Keeping Current

Thank you, I have done my usual 50 hours mostly spring time through autumn. Are you saying that if l do the one hour with an LAA instructor, say September 2020, instead of March 2021, l can legally then fly right round till March 2023 ? i.e some 2 1/2 years. That would certainly help as last time l ...

Re: Keeping Current

Quite true. Regardless of Covi19 and the requirement not to congregate, the 24 month renewal period is really rather short especially when for four or five months a year our grass airstrips are unuseable - even solo, let alone at AUW. For example I would, even in 'normal circumstances', need to arra...

Re: Why do so many VP-1's fall into disuse?

Re Gerry etc.
Jackrell's Farm airfield is close to the SW corner of Gatwick's zone, just below Horsham. Rather a long stretch to Midhurst.
FWIW Chilsfold Farm (nr Kirdford) is a nice long strip and much better placed for a family visit.

Re: Heads up, Article on Feb 20 mag on ANR headsets

The article was the first I can recall reading that studied the headset question objectively. Prior to that one only had fancy ad's by the main makers and a lot of individuals on forums endlessly giving - as a rule - one off views when the matter was written about, with the odd mention of quasi Chin...

Re: National Coach change

Sorry,

I am an 82 yr young P1 and have had to learn some of this slang.
IMHO = In my humble opinion. (Or "not so" !).
Good luck in dealing with we hooligans.

Re: National Coach change

Hi Chris,

Thnk you for volunteering to take over this essential element of our LAA's multiple contributions to safe flying.

IMHO, beyond the condition of one's aeroplane, the response the P1
is a major factor in many accidents.

BTW. Is Natonal rational ?

Re: New website

Thanks for the background story Steve, I'm pleased to note that one improvement is getting an e-mailed notification of traffic on the forum. Somehow just before the very recent deluges, the Luscombe Silvaire that arrived in pieces earlier in the year managed a brief first post rebuild flight early D...

Re: New website

Finally unravelled a persistent 'page not found', following the mail from the LAA that out forum had been cleansed. Congratulations to the person/team who, I'm sure, amongst many pressing priotities have made the time and expended effort to get this blackboard running again. Pity I can't say the sam...
