Re: VW Run-in Schedule

Good morning Phil. I'm pretty sure the Great Plains Type 1 Assembly Manual has run in details too, I have a copy but can't lay my hands on it at the moment. I'll have another look for it. Does this mean the Sonerai engine is ready to run at last? Best of luck with it if it is, I'm looking forward to...

Re: Voting Form-LAA-BMAA merger

Hi Alan, this vote is not the definitive vote to decide whether a merger will go ahead, it is an interim vote to show whether members agree in principle to a merger which, if positive, gives a mandate to the board to allocate the resources to carry out due diligence. Only when the full ramifications...

Re: Voting Form-LAA-BMAA merger

Hi Alan, you can download a Proxy form via the home page LAA website (www.laa.uk.com). Click the AGM button just to the left of the cover of this month's magazine and it will take you to a page where all the relevant documents can be downloaded.

Re: PilotAware Article in October 2019

Hi Gary, thanks for raising your query over Flarm numbers; I have mailed Keith and brought it to his attention. No doubt he will respond either directly to the forum or to me.

Re: Access to D117A fuel sensors

Hi Robert, if it's the same as my D117 was then I'm afraid you won't get either sender unit out without removing the tanks, or at least dropping them down from their normal location. The senders are both at the top of the tank, so the front one is up against the front coaming, and the rear up agains...

Re: LAA Insurance Scheme -Air Courtage

Having recently bought a Jodel with a partner I contacted Air Courtage and received a couple of quotes, one for repairing any damage ourselves in the event of an accident, and one for going the usual route and getting the aircraft repaired in the 'usual' way. The price differential was about 15% so ...

Re: Bill Woodhams Trophy

I applaud Brian Hope and his team for handling what has been a difficult spat played out last year in the national press. Thank you Mike for your comment but not deserved, I am but a small cog in the works. Harry Hopkins lead the Awards and Trophies committee throughout the period and of course, wh...

Re: Cheap historic aircraft

Hi Mike, unfortunately the Colt cannot currently be transferred onto a Permit as Piper retain the type certificate so the type is considered to be supported. However, there is a initiative under consideration by the US FAA called ‘MOSAIC’, the “Modernisation of Special Airworthiness Certificates”. I...

Re: Monoplane tyres

Hi Paul, my Jodel had 8.00 x 4.00 (ish) wheel-barrow sized wheels and I used what were called High Speed trailer tyres, and they were only 4 ply.

Re: Electric trim

Hi Wayne, suggest you call Engineering and ask them if it is an approved mod on a Jodel. If it has been done before it will be easier to do it exactly the same as was approved. Not sure I have ever seen an electric trim servo on a Jodel elevator myself but it's an interesting proposition. Good luck ...

Re: Bill Woodhams Trophy

Good news guys, there has been a change of heart and the Bill Woodhams Trophy will be awarded this year. There are a number of very worthy contenders and the winner will be announced at the AGM (Sunday 20th October at Sywell).

Re: After the Rally

I said I would get back with news on the possibility of posting the Rally list of arrivals. Unfortunately we are unable to publish it, for perfectly good reasons which I am not prepared to go into. No doubt the enthusiast sector will come up with their own lists in due course, if they haven't done s...

Re: LAA x BMAA

Light Sport Aircraft is a category of aircraft, a title we do not have in the UK as LSA aircraft come under other definitions, microlights probably being added to those definitions once the opt out 600kg ready to fly situation is resolved. Using that expression in a merged association's title would ...

Re: After the Rally

Afraid Simon, that prize was won over a week ago at the Rally. We didn't hangaround, we awarded the prize of a subscription to spellchecker and asked the poor soul to spread the correct spelling to all his hangar-ons.

Re: Bill Woodhams Trophy

It was decided to let it lie for this year, a shame as there are a number of worthy potential winners. James is one of them as there's a good chance he is a member, the majority of factory built gyros have their permits handled by the LAA. Wing Cmdr. Chris Pote flew a EuroFox to NZ, and my favourite...
