Flight Information Service is the standard across the rest Europe, so that is not too surprising. EASA will get round to standardising this in a few years and we will go back to FIS.

Just out of curiosity, what effort is being made to communicate to the 1000’s of European pilots who may try to visit? Might be simpler to just say we are closed for the duration.

Cromer gets planning permission

Following a four year planning battle with objectors, Northrepps Aerodrome had its permanent planning permission granted on 13th October 2011 at the North Norfolk District Council Planning Committee hearing. I had an old "real" Dremel when I started my MCR. I wore it out and got another which is still going strong. I would defiantly go for the real thing as based on others I have tried it is easeyer to use. When you get used to them you can produce quality work in a fraction of the time it would take us...

I am investigating building / referb / repairing a Jodel. A Friend has built a D18 and his estimate is 5000 hours. I am looking for something in the 1000 – 3000 range but will not be doing anything other than research for the next 12 months. My get a share in a TW to get my hand in though.

A build will take you a long time. I built an MCR with a 50h+ job and it took me 3y3m 1800 hours. Why not buy a share, do a complete referb on the Jodel so everything is A1 and then sell the share?

To give some approximate idea of the size of the problem; Approximately 50% of the things you are likely to bump into will have a transponder. FLARM has only been legal in the UK for a couple of years, but take up, especially in the cross country fleet, is rapid. Electronic assistance makes see and ...

“So, I guess the bit in the press release about the LAA being involved is not (entirely?) correct.”

Apparently LAA assistance was discussed at several meetings but no formal request was made. I understand further discussions are taking place. I will let you know if I get more.

“Isn't that basically what a FLARM does?”

Yes, with the addition of predicting the flight path of the aircraft concerned.

The acetone trick has been used on Jodel and Robin aircraft so it should be ok for a Minicab.

Welcome to the LAA. It is certainly possible to get 40mpg at 100knts and there are a number of LAA machines which could manage that and carry two people with bags. I am no expert on the pulsar so will leave that to others.
