Re: Import/Export
Hello Terry, I am unaware of any discussions on changing the present rules. The DGAC clearly states that national regulations do not provide for the importation of foreign amateur built aircraft. Les textes nationaux régissant la construction ne prévoient pas l’importation de machines construites so...

Re: Suitable carriers for engine transportation
I have used Interparcel to courier bits of aircraft to and from the Czech Republic. Very satisfied with the service.

Re: Permit overflight in Italy
Steve, Your aircraft is covered by ECAC Recommendation on Historical Aircraft - 2016 (ECAC/35-1) https://www.ecac-ceac.org/home-built-aircraft However, what covers it for overflight is AIC A 1/2008, which requires it to be an Annex II (a -d) aircraft. EASA has classified it as Annex II here 7. Certa...

Re: Belgium Free again -- EFLEVA
I think the problem is that the type never held an 'ICAO compliant Certificate of Airworthiness', which is a condition in Recommendation ECAC/35-1, implemented by the Belgians. https://www.ecac-ceac.org/documents/10189/40762/ECAC+Rec+35-1+Vintage+aircraft.pdf/2f2da004-bd9d-4232-b6c3-544ea289dad9 How...

I believe I can on an Microlight NPPL with Self Declaration? Regards Gerry Only if your single seater has a MTOW of 300kg and a maximum stall speed of 35kt in landing configuration. Re: UK overflight of non ICAO compliant permit to fly aircra
That is perfectly clear, and makes it easy for the French. Not so easy for owners of factory built permit aircraft registered in other countries, except Ireland, who have to comply with this For Article 33 and Article 24 & 33 exemptions/permissions £64 The exemption can be valid for up to 28 days in...

Re: UK overflight of non ICAO compliant permit to fly aircra
You are right Neil, the fee on homebuilts went many years ago, so only those 'certain historical aircraft'' will save £64 (not £68 as I mentioned previously). I agree it is a bit confusing and the only way to know what is covered, and for how long, is to read the national regulations. France makes i...

Re: UK overflight of non ICAO compliant permit to fly aircra
The news release is here http://mar2013.lightaircraftassociation.co.uk/2017/News/Belgium.pdf There is no need to apply for overflight permission, but note that it only applies to homebuilts and certain historic aircraft. The thread title implies we are discussing all permit aircraft, which is not th...

Re: UK overflight of non ICAO compliant permit to fly aircra
Ian, I don't know of any country that charges a fee for overflight permission. The UK and Belgium did, but no more. Getting permission where required is usually quite painless. Neil, Permission for 28 days in any one visit without having to pay the £68 application fee, is a great improvement, IMO. I...

Re: UK overflight of non ICAO compliant permit to fly aircra
Are other EU countries doing the same? Not that I fly in EU land, I may one day. This is covered in TL 2.08 20 countries now allow full and free movement of ECAC member homebuilts, with no time restriction, no charge and no notification, in accordance with the 1980 ECAC recommendation. https://www....

Re: An open letter to the leadership of the LAA
He has a sense of humour Mike. It was a way of saying he reckons I am at far greater risk of having my Rotax 912 stolen than being involved in a MAC. The installation of PAW will not reduce insurance premiums any more than fitting a transponder, ADS-B out, a BRS, anti-collision lights and a GPS with...

Re: An open letter to the leadership of the LAA
My insurance broker says I can get a discount on my premium if I install PAW and replace the 912 with a Jabiru.
